In serials for the last couple of years, Indian culture and tradition only means celebrating festivals, performing pujas, marrying in a traditional way, putting sindoor and mangalsutra, keeping fast on karva chauth that's it. They show all other things like extra-marital affairs,pre-marital sex and other such things which are against our culture.

Guys,
please don't hit me for saying this but:

I am not saying what they are showing is correct....I hate it and am completely revolted by the whole JP thing and even the trdemark style of all other k serials- lead pair involving sepearation, numerous other women and lots of children by different women and some 3-4 marriages each....

but what is this monolith called 'indian cultures and values' which you are all invoking?
some other questions that come to me:

Drinking-what is wrong with women drinking per se? I don't hear anyone saying it's wrong when men do it!

Sex- just to remind ourselves, India did produce the KAMASUTRA, the world's oldest academic treatise on sex!when did we become so censorious about it? If u think about it, perhaps we internalised certain western notions of sex and sexuality...

All the extra-marital fooling around is restricted to men only, which i think is in many ways a problemmatic reflection of the state of indian women. (although, i do not recommend that they start showing women like that! No way, Please!)

Not trying to offend anyone here, just thinking about what has been written in this thread. So, i apologise if i've offended anyone, did not mean to, just write down my questions.
