Salman and Sohail Khan

Salman Khan is one large-hearted fella. That is reflected in the lavish way in which he throws parties and lives his life. Khan, whose Jaan-E-Mann releases today, will host a grand Eid-Diwali party at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra starting Sunday (October 22).

Big-time mela

Says a source, "Salman has a Diwali-Eid mela every year at his Panvel farmhouse. It is generally held over a period of three to four days and is attended by nearly 700 people. There are dance parties, pool tables, carrom boards, table tennis and great khana. Tents are put up all over the grounds and people come down and have a sleepover."

Amrita Arora adds, "There are different sets of people attending and spending days and nights. It's great fun! But I don't know if we will be attending as Malaika (Arora) also celebrates her birthday on October 22."

Sohail Khan laughs when we contact him, saying, "Please don't call it the Eid or Diwali mela. We don't hand out coupons for it! It's just a get-together of close family and friends where people come and wish us for Eid and Diwali."

But this year, the party won't be in Panvel. Sohail says, "We will host it at our Bandra home as there is some work happening in the Panvel farmhouse."

Where's the party tonight?

We'll start the day with a puja at home with my mother (Hiroo), followed by a puja at the office. The evening time is for close family, friends and love. I'm don't attend any card parties or gamble. After all, isn't filmmaking the biggest gamble?

There will be a puja at our Linking Road home, then at mom's home in Juhu and then at our Andheri home, after which both our families will get together at my home. The kids will burst patakas and we will all eat a good dinner.

We will start off the day by doing puja at home, then we will go over to our parents home in Lokhandwala and attend the puja there with the entire family. It is also Shammi (Kapoor) uncle's birthday, so we will be attending a party in his honour at the Blue Sea Hotel in Worli.

After that, we will be going over to a close friend's home in Bandra for a Diwali party. Basically, we will need a multiple visa in Mumbai that day as I will be running all over the city!"

"In the morning there is the mahurat of Victoria 203, after which we will come together in Malaika's Bandra flat. Dad is in town so it will be a family party. Sometimes I go for a friend's party but I don't play cards as I don't like gambling."

Who's doing what

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan normally attend Vinay Punjabi's Diwali party. It's one of the biggest parties during Diwali, and the cream of Bollywood turns up for the do.

The Bachchans will be hosting a Diwali party at Jalsa but it will not be on a grand scale as Amitabh's mother hasn't been keeping well.

Ekta Kapoor will host a Diwali card party at Jeetendra's bungalow on October 22.

Sunny and Bobby Deol will have a family get-together at their Juhu bungalow where they will spend their evening bursting patakas.

After puja at home, Sanjay Dutt will spend a quiet evening at home with close friends and family. He never attends card parties.

Viveik Oberoi will be spending Diwali in Chennai with his grandmother as she has been keeping poor health.

Amisha Patel's grandmother will join her in Mumbai (from Pune) where they will both usher in Diwali with Vikram Bhatt.

Akshay Kumar will return from Dubai with wife Twinkle to spend a cozy get-together with both families (Dimple, Rinke, Akshay's mom and sister) in Juhu.
