^ This was beautiful
Yeh dono bas baat naa kare ... Yunhi baithe rahe ... cuz if they talk, this dream like state of mind will fall apart to give way to not-so-pleasant reality... but coming onto that later.
I LOVED the O Saiyyaan sequence , so very much, for the brief moment Asad allowed himself to let go of his inhibitions for Zoya's sake and be a source of comfort as opposed to the dictatorial yardstick of propriety that he (almost) always is. And more than that I loved the fact that it was short-lived and it ended the moment they set foot inside Asad's home in Bhopal. Because if it had to be any other way , it'd just be ... abrupt, grossly out of character for them (especially Asad) and most importantly , wouldn't make sense , at least not at this point.

I know many of you might be fuming today, seeing Asad in denial mode after all the Majnu-giri in Mangalpur ... but were we really expecting him to continue to make goo-goo eyes at Zoya even after returning back home ?
Mangalpur was not his domain, and everything there , was out of his control. With Zoya pulling yet another daredevil bride-switcheroo stunt , being hunted down by local thugs because of Zoya's inability to mind her own business, hiding out with Zoya , eventually getting caught along with Zoya, Losing Zoya , finding a 'lifeless' Zoya, having to face the trauma of 'losing' Zoya 'forever', followed by the sudden wave of exhilaration wash over him as Zoya miraculously comes back from the dead. WHOA thats a lot of Zoyas 😲 even for me 😆 and Asad toh had to live every second of the whirlwind ride within less than a day. Emotional overload, much ? But now they are back in Bhopal. Zoya is safe, and he is back in his arena . Mangalpur had shaken him up. Everything that happened , the events that transpired after he lost and 'found' Zoya , had shaken up his very person. And we are talking about the control-freak, manic perfectionist Asad Ahmad Khan who thinks he holds the strings to every event that is destined to pass through his life ... and in comes sauntering Zoya Farooqui . the freak tornado that turns his orderly life upside down without so much as a warning .
After the shocking self-revelation Asad encountered in Mangalpur , regarding his feelings for Zoya, that they might run way (WAY) deeper than he'd allow for it to , I think it is more than enough to make him hit his point of emotional saturation for the day. Now is not the time to moon after Zoya. For someone like Asad, now is the time to sit down, sort things out within himself after Hurricane Zoya ravaged through him . Now is the time to, 'fix' them and try and restore order.
The episode ended with Zoya asking Asad about the 'doosri baat' and Asad immediately dismissing the possibility of one with a rhetorical "Kaunsi doosri baat ?", his expression deadpan, his face a mask perfected by years of distancing himself from people, his voice never once betraying his true sentiments. If we hadn't know about the circumstances that led to years of practicing emotinal restraint and not letting his true sentiments show, he'd almost be .. cruel ' for shaking off Zoya in such a seemingly cold & indifferent manner .
Right now there's WAY too much going on within Asad himself for him to be able to makes sense of his own emotions, let alone accommodate Zoya's. Here's hoping that such a moment shall come to pass when Asad is able to do so, and in good time. But asking for it to be NOW, is just not fair to poor Asad because right now His mind is a dark dark place, the personal black-hole of a very damaged person. But then again to quote Charles Caleb Colton, "Times of great calamity and confusion have been productive for the greatest minds. The brightest thunder-bolt is elicited from the darkest storm".Asad too shall see light someday. The storm will pass, the spring will come. And hopefully Zoya will be the one to bring it about. Until then ... we give Asad the benefit of doubt and hope for Zoya to be his salvation.
P.S : This post is dedicated to (and written to placate) my very dear Abby who wants to bestow Asad with a sad painful death after today's episode 😆
