into the forest
& finds a place to hide
the rising sun sheds some light our way
Lovers are emerging
from the shrinking shadows
& coming together for warmth
If we are all something's awareness
whose awareness are we?
Senseless joy has set us free
to laugh our heads off
making cracks about the walls
that no longer contain us
If we haven't fallen exhausted
why should we stop dancing?
Hey you hiding behind your stuff
& trying to look busy
Aren't you the one
they used to call a genius?
How can you be all business
when morning has broken
our surfaces?
Have your talents all gone to flab
from years of disuse?
Toss aside that fake identity
You have no need
to pass your days like a dog
moving through a boa constrictor
Why be a collector of dust
when you can run with the lovers?

Last night the world
was packed with strangers
