Sana Khan has worked in several South Indian movies which shot her into the limelight. She was signed in 2008 to do the lead female role in the Tamil film Silambattam opposite Silambarasan, who approached and offered her the role. Playing a talkative, tomboyish brahmin village girl in the film, she won rave reviews for her performance as Jaanu and the ITFA Best New Actress Award in Singapore. Subsequently, she has been signed to do two more Tamil films, Thambikku Indha Ooru with Bharath, Aayiram Vilakku with Shanthnoo Bhagyarajand "Payanam" with Prakash Raj, Nagarjuna, Rishi and others.

Sana Khan started shooting for the film 'Mental' directed by Sohail Khan and starring Salman Khan, Daisy Shah, Tabu, Santosh Shukla in a negative role on March 28th. About her role, Sana said that it is a proper full fledged role where she plays a rich spoit brat, yet a strong character.

On April 19th, Sana attended the premier launch of her Malayalam movie 'Climax' in Kochi which is based on the true story of the South Indian actress Silk Smitha. The movie is also dubbed in Tamil titled Oru Nadigaiyin Dairy and is also set to release today (April 19th 2013).
