Why does Savita's permission matter?

Also, I am stunned with Archana that she even had to think about whether to make her daughter happy or her mother-in-law. Then again, Archana is so spineless a character that she cannot even defend her daughter, Purvi, against the bullying of Ovi.

By virtue of being the elder should not grant you say so on the lives of others or give you permission to use that position to do wrong. Once you have done so, you do not hold the same standing or are deserving of that respect. Considering the damage she has done and that her intent is always wrong, she has lost her respect. One must earn it and Savita has not earned hers.

I agree! Poor quality writing from not very creative writers.
