How much do I admire and Respect this character on Iss Pyaar Ko kya naam doon...
It would be hard to describe...but I hope along with my deep adoration for IPKKND...I can do justice to this fantastic misleading protagonist...SMJ..

He came into their lives for a purpose...to serve his interest,his happiness,his fulfillment ..
Or so "he" thought..:))...They were not for his purpose...oh no,siree!!
He was definitely brought in for a purpose...
To enable Khushi to re-enter the life of Arnav Singh Raizada...
To bring ASR to his source of life...Khushi KUMARI GUPTA...

A pleasant handsome young stranger...a lawyer of slight income...with a dazzling smile and honey coated tongue...
The knight for those in distress...and a large heart to help and do with an ever ready personality...

She was being harassed by public and who should come along...A knight in shining armour...we were made to think...and what an introduction to such a vital character called...Shyam Manohar Jha...
Why was he there?Placed by fate...aah the famous "Kismat" ..as told by Khushi to ASR at the hospital after Anjali had her miscarriage...
"Kuch cheezein aap BADAL nahin sakte...kuch aisa hota hai ke aap usse theek nahin kar sakte...isse KISMAT kehte hain"

Rightly so...both of these important path changing characters..SMJ and ASR..thought they could change and control events by their moves and planning...YES THEY "THOUGHT" SO...

It want him that controlled his meeting Khushi Kumari Gupta...but it was Him that got attracted to her...
Infact ,Obssession ran through his life..Obssession with himself and his requirements...I loved his justification of the fact that he "fell in love" with Khushi...he did love her...for himself...he protected her..for himself...he fought others for her...for himself...it would make obtaining Khushi much easier for himself...it was a kind of love..but with a clause..


His introduction as Arnav Singh Raizada's brother in law...How was he potrayed...did he care for Arnav and his family...yes he showed his care and love...for himself...but soon as it got in the way of obtaining Khushi...it became a suffocating liaison...where he wanted it all...but was being forced to choose...not something he had faced...as so far he had been content ...or so he thought with his "life" ...read "situation"...



But our Knight...now had a path to pick and he hurled head on thinking he could grab victory and retain his good honor...both these...we're against the plan of fate...
Shyam wanted to grab the benefits...defeat ASR ..attain Khushi...Get the wealth...
but retain himself as The Wonderful Jeejaji,Daamadji,Shyamji in everyone's eyes...one who was compassionate,caring,thoughtful,helpful,righteous and completely devoted to his wife..Anjali Jha...

Wonderful Meenu ( 😉 ), very well written... I loved his entry, it was fabulous. honestly, it was difficult to believe his intentions first. he seemed like a decent guy whereas the hero was the dark character. eventually when his true face was revealed it showed how cruel he could be to reach his goal...

although his revelation was not that good. I wanted him to depart the way he entered... should have been something special. anyway it was good though to revisit it again.

BTW, great title indeed. for a lighter one "Snekwa - the Knight"...missing Bush's vm specially dedicated to snekwa

well very written, his charcter was grey and we all loved to hate him,but i admired
the brain behind,how most of time he was one step ahead,he was able to fool might ASR by his
goodness.As a negative character i feel his is one of most well written charcters in Television.

Great post, SMJ a mystery and yet not a mystery, a man who had everything, a wife that loved him unconditionally, in laws that respected him, listened to him and his council, he really had a honeyed tongue, he had it made and he wud have had an easy life which he could have sailed through had he not met a certain person named Khushi which he turned into his obsession in trying to have her for himself.

He had a heroes entry into the show whereas the lead had a villains entry, and slowly slowly that started changing, wat a contrast to where they started to where they ended, wat a character devolution it was and portrayed well.

It was him that put Khushi back into ASRs path or he helped destiny along to a start of a beautiful love story which had him as an antagonist but also a catalyst. The story he helped to weave had everything starting from pain, hurt, anger, evolving and growing and nurturing into love and he was a catalyst in the relationship of ASR Khushi for a long time. His actions usually ended up bringing the leads closer and not further apart, his each failure feeding his obsession to have wat he wanted which no one else had the right to have and as we saw he was prepared to go to any lengths to achieve that desire.

Fantastic!!! Though I love the characters of Arnav & Khushi, I have always marvelled the character of Shyam. Cause he was the catalyst for everything, literally EVERYTHING!!!

SMJ married Anjali for her wealth, could have had a satisfying rich life handed to him by Arnav's status, and was a lawyer. All this was ready to happen until KKG came into the scene.

And I agree with you completely. SMJ lusted for Khushi, but never envisioned that ASR and KKG would fall in love. And his terrace action drove Arnav to marry Khushi (yes, hate, but it made them have a bond for life, remember). His actions fueled the ArHi relationship.

Shyam was the best thing that happened to Arshi.

He brought them closer.

His evil-ness was fantastic 😃
