I was on mugglenet and thought of posting it... 😛
A recent breakthrough in film technology, developed by Image Metrics, allows a computer to map an actor's performance onto any character virtual or human, living or dead. The developers say it is far superior to standard hand-drawn computer graphics which are very costly and time-consuming.
The chairman of Image Metrics commented: "One of our principal tenets is to capture all the movements of the face. You can't put markers on eyes, and you can't replicate the human eye accurately through hand-drawn animation. That's pretty important."
Warner Bros. will use this technology in the depiction of Grawp (played by Tony Maudsley) in Movie 5, which will surely bring Hagrid's giant half-brother to life.
