Viren came home after an hour and saw everyone doing their thing. The adults were all drinking tea and talking, while Virat was sitting at the kitchen table on his laptop. He went upstairs and saw Jeevika and Veera packing all her belongings.
viren - "Hello beautiful ladies. Could you use some of my assistance?"
jeevika - "Very much, take these bags down and to your car"
viren - "I was just being formal. Wasn't really thinking that you would give me something to do. But of course your wish is my command. As you say boss"
veera - "That's more like it bhai" she said and smiled at Viren and Jeevika.
viren - "We got to leave for the hospital soon too. We have loads to do, so both of you stop chit chatting and get working" he said in a joking way
jeevika - "How dare you talk to us like that. Get out and put the bags in the car"
viren - "whatever you say hun"
Jeevika and Veera finished getting everything else and all headed downstairs.
virat - "Bhai, I think I'll meet you at the apartment. I need to run a few errands, actual errands this time"
viren - "Okay, we'll be going to the hospital soon. So just meet us at the apartment then"
virat - "Cool. I'll see all of you guys later"
viren - "Jeevs, veera you guys ready?"
jeevika - "Yup. Let's go"
They all hugged the adults and left for the hospital. Veera sat in the back as Jeevika and Viren in the front. Viren and Jeevika were conversing and they didn't even notice that Veera hadn't uttered a word. Viren looks back at her from the mirror and sees her staring out the window. He thought he saw some tears coming out her eyes.
viren - "Veera you okay?"
Veera quickly wiped her tears and said yes. Viren gave Jeevika a look and she understood what was happening. Veera was petrified of going to the hospital and seeing doctors. They reached the hospital in another 10 minutes and Veera and Jeevika got out the car as Viren went to find parking.
jeevika - "You sure you okay?"
veera - "I don't have it in me to step into this hospital. I can't do this anymore, please bhabhi I can't.
Before Veera or Jeevika even knew, Viren came up and held Veera's hand.
viren - "You're not a quitter, you're a fighter. Ever since you were born, you were the strongest, remember. You are all of our support systems. I'm not going to let you feel weak like this, okay. You have your brother by your side. You have your entire family, by your side. You don't need anything else. Now put on your strong face, and let's go inside"
Veera held onto her brothers hand tighter and the three of them walked in. Viren made Veera sit down, but still held onto her hand. Jeevika went to the nurses station to page the doctor. Jeevika came back to where the other two were standing.
jeevika - "We should be inside a room in a few minutes"
Veera slightly nodded and they all just waited for the doctor to come.
nurse - "Why don't I take you inside the room. The doctor is a little stuck right now. It'll be another 15 minutes or so"
jeevika - "Okay, thank you"
They all walked into the room, and the nurse started doing the normal checkup. She checked Veera's blood pressure and her temperature.
nurse - "Your blood pressure is a little low, but don't worry the doctor can give you some supplements for that. Your temperature is actually almost near 101 right now. Did you have a fever today?"
jeevika - "She did in the morning. Doctor prescribed some medications though and she was better"
nurse - "Okay, well I wrote it on her chart; she'll give you further details."
Just then the nurses pager alarmed. She checked it, and it was the doctor.
nurse - "Mr. Viren, the doctor wants to see you in her cabin. I'll take you there. I'll be back to take your blood test Veera"
The nurse and Viren both walked out.
veera - "Bhabhi, its nothing bad you think right? What is the doctor going to say? I knew I shouldn't have come. Why am I wasting time sitting in these hospitals and getting more blood drawn out"
jeevika - "Veera calm down. I'm sure she's just asking some routine questions. Don't worry, she won't hide anything from you, okay"
The nurse walked in with a hospital tray.
nurse - "Jeevika would you like to take the blood test?"
Jeevika looked into Veera's eyes and saw how she wanted Jeevika to do it instead. Jeevika washed her hands, and put on some gloves. As she did, Viren and the doctor walked inside.
doctor - "Hello Veera, how are you feeling now?"
veera - "Okay I guess"
doctor - "Don't worry you'll be starting to feel more than okay soon. Jeevika why don't you continue and take out the blood"
Jeevika followed the doctors instructions and quickly drew out the blood from Veera's arm. She couldn't help but notice all the veins she could see in her arm. She could feel her bones and took it as a sign to make Veera's appetite better. Jeevika finished and then handed the samples over to the nurse who left the room thereafter.
doctor - "Veera, here is a gown for you. Will you please change while we go outside. We'll be back in ten minutes. I need to do a few exams on you"
veera - "Exams? what kinds? Bhai i thought we came just for a blood test"
viren - "It's okay veera its just a check up, okay? We'll be outside"
The three of them left the room and the doctor started talking to Jeevika and telling her what she had earlier told Viren. After sometime Veera and Jeevika both entered the room.
doctor - "Don't worry Veera, its just a checkup. Now will you lie on your stomach please?"
Veera was nervous so Jeevika went and held her hand. She turned around and the doctor examined her back. She was looking for any bruising.
doctor - "Okay now I'm going to put some pressure. Tell me when if it hurts"
Veera closed her eyes. She was not mentally prepared to come to the hospital, yet alone this physical exam was making it worst. Veera told the doctor when she felt pain throbbing in her body.
doctor - "Okay that's it for now Veera. So those medicines you took this morning are good if you ever get a fever again"
veera - "Can I ask you what were you exactly talking about with my brother?"
The doctor was going to say something, but Jeevika interrupted.
jeevika - "She was just saying that we need to change your diet plan. You're loosing a lot of weight with all these medications and you often don't have an appetite"
The doctor just smiled and left soon thereafter. Jeevika helped Veera change and then the both of them went outside where Viren was waiting.
viren - "You okay Veera?"
veera - "I think so. Can we go away from here now. I can't take it"
viren - "Let's go. Virat is also waiting for us now"
The three of them left and drove to the apartment which was barely 5 minutes away. Viren and Jeevika carried in the stuff, not letting Veera hold anything but her laptop bag. They entered the apartment and saw Virat setting his stuff up in the new room.
virat - "Whatsup Veera, you good?"
veera - "No, want to go buy me some cheesecake"
virat - "Always commanding stuff from me, huh. Go tell your favorite bhai"
veera - "Nah, this is your department, to buy me whatever I want"
viren - "Okay shut up both of you. How about we go out for dinner tonight, well in an hour or so to cheesecake factory"
veera - "You're the best bhai! See Virat bhaiya" she said sticking her tongue out to Virat.
jeevika - "Viren why don't you take your stuff to the room and unpack. I'll help Veera"
Veera looked at her brother and wanted to die of laughter. She stared at Viren and gave him a pity look.
veera - "I'm so glad I'm sharing the room with you bhabhi. Your room is very warm and cozy, right bhai?" she said trying to irritate Viren.
viren - "I'm sure it is"
