The Misunderstanding - A SS

Part One

"Madhu..." RK spoke softly as he quickly ran past Dipali to reach his wife.

As RK saw the tears falling from Madhu's eyes because of him, he felt his heart break. He raised his hands to place them on her shoulders and comfort her, but he was stopped.

He looked down to see her hands stopping him from doing so. He looked up at her with a pain-filled face.

"Madh..." she backed away slowly.

Suddenly Madhu turned and ran as RK reached out an arm for her and called her name.

Then he heard her voice...the voice that caused it all.

"See that my hero? I didn't even do anything. I didn't NEED to do anything. And that's why I told you...never be happy RK."

RK felt his veins popping from his neck in anger. His hands curled into fists. He wanted to go after Dipali for what she did but he figured dealing with Madhu should come first.

RK stormed out of his room leaving Dipali behind smiling with a wicked smile.

"Madhu!"

RK watched as she ran through the doors and out of their house.

"Rishu beta?"

RK didn't stop to listen to his mother, he ran down the stairs and out the doors behind Madhu.

"Madhu!" RK caught up to Madhu as she cried by the main entrance.

RK grabbed her arm and turned her to face him.

She tried to free herself.

"Let me go!"

"Madhu listen to me!"

"NO! Don't touch me!" she spoke as she managed to free her arm from his grip.

She stared up at him with a furious face behind her tears. He couldn't bear the pain of having caused her discomfort of any sort. His eyes became watery.

"Mad..."

"You listen to me!" Madhu cut him off.

RK went silent as he stared at his wife.

"Why do you want to stop me?! Want to test me more?! Any more tests left?"

"N..."

"You had NO right, absolutely no right to test me or my love RK!"

"Liste..."

"This was all a test! A stupid test! How could you RK?!" Madhu let tears flow from her eyes.

RK reached out to wipe her tears but she stepped back. RK slowly put his hand down and decided to answer her.

"She instigated me Madhu...she took advantage of my trust issues..."

"Trust issues RK?! You trusted her over me?! You broke MY trust RK!"

"I'm s..."

"Why didn't you just come to me?! Why didn't you just talk to me? Why TEST me RK!"

"I was afraid..."

"Of what?! Afraid I love you for your fame and money? Is that what you think of me RK. You honestly thought I was after your money? Me? Do you not know me?!"

"I do now!"

"No...no you don't...because if you did...you would've known I'd be hurt by your test..." Madhu spoke behind her tears.

RK went silent; he stared at her for a second. He could feel his heart breaking with every tear that fell out of her eyes.

"I didn't want my trust to be broken...First papa, then the woman who gave me birth..."

"Ma?! How'd ma break your trust?!"

"She marri..."

"Do you have any idea why she married again?! ANY IDEA RK?"

RK stared at her confused.

"She married for YOU!"

"No sh..."

"Yes RK. Yes she did. She married so you'd never experience the loss of a father. She married so that you'd receive the love of a father again. She married for you and only you!"

RK was taken aback, all these years he had thought she had married for herself. Married so that she wouldn't have to be a widow.

RK's eyes widened which let the built up tears fall from his eyes.

He looked towards Madhu shocked.

"I'm going back home for a few days. Don't follow me." Madhu turned around.

"Madhu..." RK put out an arm to reach for her but she was already out of reach.

She left him wondering to himself, lost deep in thought, about the past 15 years he had been mistaken about his mother.
