"My eyes are so hot mumma..."Aarav spoke in a feeble voice looking towards his mother.His eyes were burning badly because of high temperature.
"When will your doctor arrive,maan???"
Maya who was sitting near aarav on the bed yelled impatiently watching her grandson suffering badly.
"Dr.Sharma is coming,aunty"..Maan answered looking carefully and worriedly towards aarav. Dr.Sharma was a well known pediatrician as well as a good neighbour of Khurana family.Maan had called him five minutes ago and asked him whether he could bring aarav to his home for examination.But Dr.Sharma was generous enough to sacrifice his sleep and pay a visit to Khurana Mansion himself.
Arrival of Doctor brought a little relief to all the persons in the room,however aarav's heart was apprehensive.Doctor might torture him with the"injection".Causing much relief to little boy,doctor brought out a "thermometer" from his bag.
"Open your mouth beta"..Middle aged doctor said with a smile.
Aarav obliged as doctor placed the tip of thermometer under his tongue and made him close his lips.Lines of worry on doctor's forehead when he read the temperature on the thermometer, clearly told Maan the seriousness of the situation.It was not a simple viral fever.
"Whats this???"Doctor mumbled to himself as he carefully looked at Aarav's neck.There was a small red blister. Next moment,he lifted aarav's tshirt to examine his stomach.There were many such blisters present on his stomach.Worry and anxiety increased ten folds in the hearts of the family members present around little boy. Aarav's hand moved towards his stomach to scratch one of the blister, only to be immediately stopped by the doctor...
"No beta...Don't scratch or rub here.."Doctor instructed.
"But its itching there.."Aarav said in his innocent and tired voice.
"I would give you an ointment..When you mother would apply it on your stomach,itching would be gone.."Doctor answered smiling slightly.
"It won't burn no..uncle???"
"No beta..it won't and you are a strong boy..you should not be scared of "medicines".."
Doctor's statement brought a little shine in aarav's tired eyes.
"What are those blisters on his stomach doctor???"Geet asked the "question" in an anxious voice, which was troubling all.
"Come with me.."Doctor spoke getting up from the bed as he moved towards the door to be followed by everyone present in the room.

"Chicken pox!!!" Maya exclaimed as tears brimmed in her eyes.
"There is nothing to worry or cry madam..Your grand son would be fine with in next fifteen days with the medicines..All you have to do is to take care of him properly.."Doctor tried to console the crying Maya while scribbling the medicines on the note pad.
"Any special precautions doc???"Maan asked taking the prescription from him.
"Yes..Make him wear light and loose clothes only..It would be good if you avoid "under garments" for few days..Give him "sponge bath" only for next week..After a week,you can give "luke warm" bath with an antiseptic lotion in the water..Use very less soap even then...and don't let him scratch those blisters..It would be better if you trim his finger nails.."
"How much time it would take to cure those blisters???"Mamta inquired in an anxious voice.
"It would take time mamta ji..Its just initial phase..Blisters would cover his entire body in next three or four days..After that they would start healing themselves..At that stage "itching" would be more...So be more careful at that time.."
"and fever???" Geet bombarded the next query at doctor.
"Fever would come at regular intervals..I have prescribed "medicines" to reduce it...He can gulp down the tablets???"Doctor asked this time.
"NO...It would be better if you can prescribe some "syrups".."Kiran answered in a voice marked with immense worry.
"hmm..."Doctor nodded his head as he took back the prescription from maan to make the desired changes in the medicines.
"Thank you so much doctor..and I am really sorry to bother you at this hour of night.."Maan said apologetically.
"Its ok maan..and I am not only your doctor but your neighbour also..."Doctor said with a genuine smile.."Ane one thing more Kiran.."He spoke turning towards Kiran now.."Your daughter is very susceptible to this infection..Keep her away from Aarav as much as possible and don't forget to wash your hands properly before handling aarvi..."
With those words doctor left the house,leaving a worried family behind.
"I would get the medicines"..Maan said marching towards the door while checking time on his watch which showed 3 of the morning.

"Its smelling bad.."Aarav made a disgusting face as Kiran brought the spoon filled with "paracetamol syrup" near his mouth.
"But it would taste like strawberry icecream,aarav..Look its pink in color.."Geet tried to convince the little boy with her reasoning.
"Really maami???"
"Yes champ..Common now drink it.."Geet spoke shoving the spoon in his mouth.
Though syrup was sweet but it certainly did not taste like strawberry icecream thus making aarav spit it out immediately.
"You are lying maami..it tastes yuck.."Aarav grumbled with tear in his eyes.
"But you have to drink it.."Kiran said in a little strict voice wiping his tshirt. Aarav looked towards his mamu with eyes full of hope.Only he might save him now.
Maan gave an encouraging smile to his nephew as he spoke,"He is my strong boy di..He can drink any medicine no matter how "yuck" it would taste...Right champ???"He asked sitting near the little boy on the bed.
Aarav nodded his head for "yes" as he prepared himself for the "dare" his mamu was asking him to do.All his determination flew away as "yucky" smell of medicine entered his nostrils once again,making him press his lips tightly.
"Open your mouth beta.."Maan requested.
"ummm.."Aarav nodded his head in denial.
"He won't drink like this maan..."Kiran said as she pinched aarav's nose to make him open his mouth.As soon his mouth opened,she shoved the spoon in his mouth.She kept on pinching his nose with one hand and at last aarav had to gulp the yucky liquid down his throat.
"Bahu!!!..."Maya yelled with anger entering the room."Why are you forcing him????"She questioned further with her anger touching the peak now watching big fat tears rolling down aarav's cheeks now.
"He was not taking the medicine maaji."Kiran answered meekly.
"So you would behave like this with him???I don't know when would you learn to raise your kids??"She scolded her daughter in law in a furious voice."Actually it is not your fault entirely..God had forgot to give a little "motherhood" in your heart..You can never take care of your kids neither now nor "few years ago"..."She spoke further with an expression full of disgust.
Maan clenched his fists clearly understanding the taunts of maya aunty.Geet noticed both,clenched fists of her husband as well as teary eyes of her sister in law.
"Common aarav you should sleep now.."Kiran said in a teary voice securing the blanket around her son.
"No..I won't sleep with you..I would sleep in mamu's room..."Aarav responded stubbornly.He was hell mad at his mother.
"No beta you can't sleep there.."Kiran tried to make him understand.
Maan had no problem with aarav sleeping in his room and taking care of his nephew but he knew very well,only a mother could take best care of her sick child.
"if aarav can't sleep in my room then I can sleep in his.."Maan said settling himself on the bed as he made aarav lay in his lap.
"Maya aunty..you please take rest..I am here with him.."Maan requested maya.
"No i would stay here..."Maya was as stubborn as aarav.
"You need rest maaji..You sciatica pain would come again otherwise..."Kiran said in a concerned voice.
"hmm..."Maya gave an irritating look to kiran,however she left the room knowing that whatever kiran said was right.Her gaze met with Mamta's gaze near the door,who had witnessed everything standing there.
"You too take some rest di..,we are here for Aarav and arravi both."Geet said to kiran gesturing towards crib where aarvi was sleeping peacefully.
Kiran tried to deny but she was interrupted by Mamta who entered the room now."Geet is right beta..Come with me..You can sleep in my room.."
"You know maa..I won't be able to sleep..and moreover I don't need sleep when my son is in this condition..I have a mother's heart too..."Kiran spoke sobbing badly now. Her words clearly conveyed how badly Maya's taunts had hurt her.
"I know you don't need sleep but you need your mother at this moment..."Mamta spoke as she held Kiran's hand to steer her out of the room with her.
Maan noticed the worry and sadness on geet's face as she saw kiran leaving the room with Mamata.
"Don't worry..Di would be fine.."He spoke patting aarav's fore head with gentleness.Medicine was showing its affect as aarav was in deep sleep now.
"Hmm.."Geet responded as she took her seat near both of them.
"Geet..you can slee..."Maan was about to ask geet to sleep in their room but he was interrupted in between as he heard her saying..."I am not going anywhere,laddu..I want to be with you and aarav now.."
He did not know why but his heart wanted to hear "same"from his hemamalini...
