I have been witnessing several tv actors switching to films though I feel they misjudge their own potential. It is very difficult for a tv actor to make place in a film industry.The following are my reasons:
1)TV actors are loved for their characters above everything else.If they use this as an advantage and choose films accordingly they might succeed. Actors like Rajeev aka Sujhal or barun as Arnav have gained more popularity due to portraying their respective roles.As for barun he played a lovey-dovey character earlier but failed to gain any recognition.
2)There has been a gradual switch in cinema.Earlier faces like SRK worked because people looked upto them as an actor but now people want actors as their role models.They opt for actors with well maintained bodies or beautiful faces. Average looking faces may fail to impress in future.e.g Shushant Singh Rajput
3)Examples are quoted of superstars like SRK and Vidya who were from tv.Keeping one thing in mind that SRK's fauji was unseen by many. Hence it worked in his favour. He had to work hard to gain recognition and could easily experiment with himself.Unlike TV stars of today who owe their stardom to a massive audience who may not prefer their new look.
4) TV actors dump their TV viewership channelizing for a bigger audience.They failed to understand that TV audience has a certain limited audience and majority of the population in India are unaware of them as "famous" TV actors.
5)Lastly the films they bag may lack the substance and in comparison to already launched film associated newcomers they fail to get recognition.
