To all my friends on India Forums, this is my small dedication/tribute to none other than my once upon a time actor, Salman Khan. Now the story behind "one upon a time" is as simple as this: once upon a time I used to adore this amazing handsome hunk. He used to my one of my favorite actors (possibly on the same line as Shahrukh Khan). 😆 However, that changed for me, but not for the true fans of this actor. So this thread is for my Salman fans. :) Itna to kar sakti hoon naa. 😳

Unlike Shahrukh, however, Salman came from a family of stars. But he is where he is now only because of his talent, hard work, and dedication. Just like Shahrukh, Salman has had an incredible filmy history. Although for me Shahrukh will always hold the title of "King of Bollywood/Romance", Salman lovers/fans have the right to feel like he is the King of Bollywood/Romance because of the immense star power that he has received. One simply cannot ignore the fact that Salman is one of the most successful actors of the industry today. And all the credit goes to him and his fans worldwide.

So let's embrace the journey of one of India's most top actors.

Right from the beginning (his 2nd film) he made a huge impact in the industry. After his film, Maine Pyar Kiya, the audience/fans/viewers/critics knew he was a star in the making. He was going to stay in Bollywood for a long time. The movie co-starred Bhagyashsree.

One of the next highly acclaimed films of Salman's came in 1991. The movie was Saajan co starring Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit. Little did anyone know that this jodi of Salman and Madhuri would turn out to be one of the most favorite jodi.

Next came a comedy flick which had a multi star cast and did exceptionally well with the audience. The move was Andaaz Apna Apna (1994) and co starred Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor. Once again little did anyone know that the jodi of Salman and Karisma would take a whole new turn.

Next came a Rajshri production and once again we saw the hit pairing of Madhuri and Salman in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. This movie was a super hit movie and showed the love of a joint family.

"Mera Karan Arjun aayenge...Dharti phad ke aayenge magar ayenge zarur..." 😆 I'm not sure how well Karan Arjun did at the box office, but I do know how the hit pairing of Salman and Shahrukh did. Who doesn't miss that once upon a time pairing. If only things were different today. The film also co starred Kajol and Mamta Kulkari.

Other well known movies that came after, but didn't necessarily click with the audience were Judwaa (co starring Karisma Kapoor), Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya (co-starring Kajol and brother Arbaaz Khan), and Jab Pyar Kissi Se Hota Hai (co-starring Twinkle Khanna).

Next Salman made a special appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The movie's main leads were Shahrukh, Kajol, and Rani. But Salman made a huge impact in the movie even though he was a supporting actor in the movie.

Next came a series of movies that got mixed responses by the audience: Jaanam Samjha Karo (co starring Urmilla), Biwi #1 (co starring Karisma Kapoor & Sushmita Sen), and Hello Brother (co starrin Arbaaz Khan & Rani Mukherjee). With this movie came the new pairing of Salman and Rani, a pair that would eventually become of the hit jodis of Bollywood.

In between, Salman had one of his most highly acclaimed films, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, co starring ex girlfriend Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan. The movie was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Then came another hit movie on a joint family. Hum Saath Hai, co starring Saif Ali Khan, Mohnish Behl, Karimsa Kapoor, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, did exceptionally well giving a strong message about joint families.

Dulhan Hum Le Jaayenge (Co starring Karisma Kapoor), Chal Mere Bhai (Co starring Sanjay Dutt & Karisma Kapoor), Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (Co starring Rani Mukherjee & Preity Zinta), Kahin Pyar No Ho Jaaye (Co starring Rani Mukherjee & Raveena Tandon), Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (Co Starring Rani Mukherjee & Preity Zinta), Tumko Na Bhool Payenge (Co starring Arbaaz Khan, Diya Mirza, & Sushmita Sen), Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (Co starring Shahrukh Khan & Madhuri Dixit), and Yeh Hai Jalwa (Co starring Amisha Patel), were a series of either flop movies that didn't fare well or movies that had mixed reviews from the general audience.

Next came a critically highly acclaimed movie where Salman's acting was praiseworthy. The name, Tere Naam, co starring Bhoomika Chawla.

Although he was a special appearance in the movie Bagbhan, his small role was very noteworthy. The movie saw the hit jodi of Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan.

Next came another series of mixed review films that either didn't do well or got mixed reviews: Garv (co starring Shilpa Shetty & Arbaaz Khan), Phir Milenge (co starring Shilpa Shetty & Abhishek Bachchan), Dil Ne Jisse Apna Kaha (co starring Preity Zinta & Bhoomika Chawla), Lucky (co starring Sneha Ullal), Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya (co starring Sushmita Sen, Katrina Kaif, & Sohail Khan), No Entry (co starring Anil Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Fardeen Khan, Lara Dutta, & Esha Deol), Kyun Ki (co starring Kareena Kapoor), & Jaaneman (co starring Akshay Kumar & Preity Zinta).

Baabul was another movie that got mixed reviews. I personally loved it and thought it emphasized the character of a 'girl'. The movie co starred Rani Mukherjee, John Abraham, Hema Malini, and Amitabh Bachchan.

Next came a multi-caster, Saalam-E-Ishq, which didn't fare too well. It co starred Juhi Chawla, Anil Kapoor, & Priyanka Chopra.

Next came a series of mixed reviews once again:
Partner (co starring Govinda, Lara Dutta, & Katrina Kaif), Saawariya (co starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Rani Mukherjee), God Tussi Great Ho (co starring Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, & Anupam Kher), Yuvraaj (co starring Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan, & Katrina Kaif), Wanted (starring Ayesha Takia), Main aur Mrs Khanna (co starring Kareena Kapoor), and London Dreams (co starring Ajay Devgan & Asin).

Then Salman's career sky rocketed with releases such as Dabangg (co starring Sonakshi Sinha), Ready (co starring Asin), Bodyguard (co starring Kareena Kapoor), Ek Tha Tiger (co starring Katrina Kaif), & Dabangg 2 (co staring Sonakshi Sinha). All though you can say all these movies had mixed reviews, they did exceptionally well at the box office with large numbers!

Sallu Trivia:
1. Rani Mukherjee has done the most number of films with Salman Khan.
2. Salman Khan is known to give newcomers a chance in his films.
3. Was accused in another press conference in spring 2003 by Vivek Oberoi to have called the latter 41 times during one night and threatened him with death as well.
4. He was an excellent swimmer in his school days and was even tipped for representing the country one day.
5. Not only is he a health freak, he also loves to initiate people who aren't as health-conscious as himself into workouts. He forced co-star Anil Kapoor to work out at the gymnasium every day. While Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan are his early trainees.
