mahima- i wont even get into it as it hurts to even talk about how she blew her brilliant debut and chances in the industry away by dragging subash gai to court as he paid her less than promised. Clearly she was screwed after that disastrous step- reportedly subash who was much in power back then also asked many others to not take mahima in their movies and she was dropped from many big films!

Yes crystii! He was much in power back then and mahima was just a new actress- he had contacts and he used them to throw her out of industry as he was pissed that a new actress launched by him is dragging him to court for paying less.

I didn't know about the Mahima-Ghai case! Shocking!

It's sad truth of the industry. Actors (especially females and more so if they're outsiders) have to fan egos of these powerful directors/actors/producers. If they stake a stand of their own the fatcats ensure the actor doesn't get any work at all.

I wasn't fond of Mahima but remember she was watchable in Pardes, her songs from Daag and Pya Koi Khel Nahi were also popular and she was hailed as the new Madhuri after success of Pardes. Too bad she ended up like this!

Tabu and Urmila were never on "top". Tabu had great talent and deserved better roles. She can anyday take Vidya Balan to school in terms of acting! But she did not get good roles after Chandni Bar (except Maqbool and that Mira Nair film). Urmila wasn't given her due either. I think she deserved roles from bigger filmmakers after Rangeela at least. But no one really cast her. She's still a looker and was always talented (check out Pinjar!) but does she get any kind of role at all?

And please why should 10 years be more than enough for an actress?! An actor can keep playing college kid till 50 or a 60 year old can play school boy but an actress has had enough in first 10 years only? What a mindset!

The actresses of those days were thousand times better than today's overhyped dolls!

Tabu in particular is an institution. It's shameful how YRF reduced her to a two-bit, blink n miss role in Fanaa.

Akshay Khanna...Such a talented actor...but where is he??? On one side we see Abhishek signing movie after movie even though they keep sinking without a trace and on one side we have the talented bunch like Akshay Khanna who are nowhere to be seen...Both star sons by the way...
