In the year (give or take) that SP has been on the air, the series has touched upon several social issues including color discrimination, dowry, treatment of widows, unwed mothers, adultery, child marriage and infertility, just to name a few!

Do you feel that each of these topics has been addressed adequately?

I personally feel that it's become a bit of a "hodge- podge" of "Issues" (with an intentional capital I). I would prefer that they touch upon fewer issues but delve more deeply into a select handful.

I remember a while ago, Zee had a serial called Kashish which dealt with adultery and its aftermath. I personally thought it was groundbreaking for an Indian drama in the realistic and nuanced way the writers handled their subject matter. I do wish SP would take more of that type of approach rather than the "issue of the week" approach they seem to take. Sometimes it seems that the issues are just devices to move the "masala" plot along.

Your thoughts?
