"Arn...av...he he...stop...ha ha...it" Khushi giggled while Arnav trailed his index finger over her bare arm starting from her wrist to her shoulder blade and back again. But Arnav Singh Raizada didn't listen to anyone, even Khushi when he was having a great time.
"Arnav...please stop. Let me study...okay at...he he...ha...he he...ha at least let me speak okay?" Khushi tried to reason with him amidst suppressed laughter. He stopped his finger somewhere near her elbow, not removing it from there lest what Khushi said would not go well with him. He cocked his left eyebrow allowing her to speak.
"Arnav listen to me first alright? I am studying and these touches are distracting me. Do anything but not this, please" Khushi looked down at him on her left where Arnav lay on his left elbow on his bed looking up at Khushi who sat cross legged with her books, stationery and a calculator with a pencil stuck in her hair keeping her bun in place.
"Anything?" he confirmed.
"Anything" she assured as she went back to solving a technology matrix. She felt his finger lifting from near her elbow and immediately sighed. Now I can concentrate she thought and her pen froze in her hand and everything about matrices went out of the window when she felt his lips replacing his finger.
"Aaarnavvv..." she moaned as he made his way to her delicate neck.
"Hmmm" came his muffled response just below her ear. He removed the pencil from her hair and tossed it in some random direction.
"I like your hair open" he reminded her as he buried his face in her neck from behind and encircled her waist by his arms. He then started placing soft, tender kisses on the curve of her neck. She tilted her head to her right, giving him more place to explore. He stunned her by suddenly biting her just above her collar bone earning a soft hiss from her. He then skimmed his nose over her jaw and adjusted himself to explore her other side of the neck. As he moved to give the other half of her neck the service it deserved he felt her hands going behind his neck, urging him to look at her. The moment he raised his head, she pressed her lips over his and he immediately responded, kissing her back. Her hands roamed over his strong sculpted back while his hands went under her t-shirt drawing circles on her lower back.
"Nani, I will just be back after giving this milk to Khushi and Chotay" they heard Anjali's voice close to his room and broke abruptly. Arnav immediately picked up a book, looking at it with utmost concentration while trying to calm his nerves. Khushi pulled down her t-backed top, pressed a few numbers on her calculator. She wanted to find the square of 6, but her racing heart always gave the result 12 instead of 36 as she kept multiplying 6 with 2 instead of by itself.
Anjali limped into the room as she adjusted the glasses and light snacks and looked at the two fondly. She wasn't sure whom did she love more now - Arnav or Khushi. Khushi became the little sister Anjali never had, in fact Anjali had no sisters. Being born amongst brothers, Anjali always missed having a sister of her own and Khushi came as a complete package of the perfect younger sister.
"Khushi, Chotay badam milk and snacks" Anjali announced once she knocked and entered Arnav's room.
They lifted their head in unison
"Good, milk!"
"No, Di no milk"
Arnav happily took the glass from his sister's hand and saw her sitting next to Khushi holding the glass for her, completely ignoring him.
"Khushi drink this milk" Anjali urged her while bringing the glass to her lips.
"Di, you know that I don't like milk. It smells bad!" she whined.
"Arre, this is badam milk" Anjali started as she tilted the glass for Khushi to drink who opened her mouth ever so slightly to let as little milk in as possible. "Almonds are good for the brains. You will learn everything in a jiffy and score well" This was a sort of a routine whenever Khushi came to Shantivan, Anjali would bring a glass of badam milk for her and make her drink it, telling her the same thing every time.
"Sach?" Khushi asked.
"Sach" Anjali assured and saw Khushi opening her mouth wide and then taking the glass from her hand and drinking all the contents. Anjali pulled the glass away before Khushi would start licking it. Anjali moved the hair away from Khushi's face, saying "I will tie you a plait"
Khushi sat before Anjali, as she tied a fish plait while Arnav watched on.
"Now, your hair will not come in your way" Anjali left the room, leaving the two alone.
"Khushi open your hair. Get out of that plait" he almost commanded her and Khushi looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"No. Di has made this plait for me and I will not open it. Besides it is convenient. I can't roam around or study with my hair loose all the time. I think I should just cut them short, very short, right?" she ended her question with a hint of a strong warning. Arnav made a face and got off the bed going to his plants. He knew that she knew that he liked her hair so much that he hated it even when she trimmed them.
She knew that he knew that she knew that he liked her long hair. But he didn't know that she knew that he didn't know how much she liked her hair. She let him sulk for sometime as she continued to solve a few more problems.

"Anju, you are 29. People have started talking" Prithvi Singh Raizada held her granddaughter's hand in his while looking at Devyani from over Anjali's shoulder.
"Who is more important for you? Me or people?"
"Of course you bitya" Nani immediately replied.
"Then please stop pestering me and get Akash married. Keeping a condition that Akash and Payal can't get married unless I am married is unreasonable"
"And your stubbornness is completely reasonable right?" Nani asked her question laced with anger.
"They have been engaged from the past two and a half years!" Anjali avoided the question posed by Nani.
"They can wait" Nana assured her pressing his palm over her hands, assuring her that he was and will always be by her side, no matter what.
"I have been getting hints from Madhumati ji. I know she understands our situation but she is a mother who is concerned about her daughter's future. People are talking about it because you..." Nani was interrupted as Anjali suddenly rose from the bed, jerking away PSR's hands.
"Fine! People are talking because of me right?" Anjali's voice rose because of the pent up anger at being constantly subjected to the same topic over and over again when they knew what her answer was and also the reason behind it.
"I will leave this house. I won't be there to be talked about!" her hands flew in frustration as she left the room wiping away her tears angrily not noticing Arnav and Khushi who had come to Nani's room hearing the loud noises. Khushi urged him to go and speak to his Di.
Khushi saw Nana and Nani hugging each other while tears streamed down their faces as they looked at their daughter's picture hanging on the wall and a few droplets fell from her eyes as well involuntarily.

Arnav saw his sister trailing her fingers lightly over that b******'s picture he was sure she was holding while a bag lay open on her bed with few of her clothes already inside.
"Di stop thinking about that man" Arnav shouted at his sister.
"I don't want to discuss this with anyone" she bit back placing the photo back in to the box and zipping the bag with the box firmly inside it. She picked up her bag and started to move out when she saw Khushi standing outside her room, traces of tears still visible on her cheeks.
"Khushi, stop crying. I will keep in touch with you okay?" Anjali assured as she hugged her and Khushi started sobbing in her arms chanting her names constantly. Her grandparents came from behind, Nana took her bag from her hand and Anajli reluctantly handed it over. Nani turned to Khushi, hugged Anjali and told her "Tell your Buaji that we will come to your house soon to fix up a date for Payal and Akash's wedding"
Nani felt Anjali hugging her more firmly and Nani tightened her hold on her granddaughter who was an exact replica of her daughter.

"Arnav" Khushi started as they walked in the Raizada lawn post the dramatic encounter in the house "What is it with Di? I mean she is extremely beautiful, in fact she looks so gorgeous that I was jealous to see her with you when I saw Di for the first time at the mandir..."
"You were jealous back then?" he smirked at her, but the smile didn't reach his eyes and Khushi knew he was trying to avoid the topic.
"Urgghh Arnav. Listen. She is stunning, has a pure heart, is compassionate, is good-natured, is so lovable then why isn't she married yet? Please don't tell me that just because Di doesn't walk like others she is not good enough for them then she is better off single!" Khushi finished her little pro-Di speech, halted in her tracks looking at Arnav who was looking down and Khushi could make out that he was trying to control his anger. She clutched his arm to grab his attention.
"I didn't mean to hurt you or make you angry...it's just that someone as good as Di doesn't have a partner is something which I cannot comprehend"
"Di had many good proposals in the past few years, in fact since she turned 18. She doesn't have this deformity since birth. She had met with an accident when she had gone to meet that b******. She loved him so much but he dumped her after he knew about her accident. I mean how he could dump my sister, my Anjali Di who is so good. I know he never loved her. He just loved her for her beauty and when he came to know about it he...he just disappeared. He didn't even have the courtesy to come and break up with her. That coward son of b**** just ran away" Arnav got it all out in one go and felt Khushi hugging him immediately. He continued "You should have seen Di back then. She was so heart-broken and she had confined herself in a shell. One day she decided that she would help street children and since then she has improved. She is what she is today because of her NGO and I am proud of my sister"
Khushi heard him sniff; hence she continued to hug him because she knew he wouldn't like her to see his tears
"When did this happen?"
"9 years back when Di was studying in Mumbai"
"What happened to that guy? Do you know him?"
"I have no idea who that guy is. If I knew him I am sure of one thing - he wouldn't have been alive today" she heard the deathly tone in his voice and raised her head to see the unbounded fury in his eyes. She placed his one palm under his jaw and rubbed his shoulder with the other, trying to calm him down. His breathing evened and she felt him relax. She knew Arnav had erratic mood swings but today he crossed his limits
"So, after Bhai and G get married, I think we should tell them about us. We can get engaged and then go to LSE together and we can live together" he smirked down at her, seeing his favourite colour taking its usual place on her cheeks.
Although they had been dating from the past 2 and a half years, they hadn't slept together. He knew Khushi wasn't that nave anymore and many a times both had been quite aroused during their little fun sessions but Arnav had never let it go beyond that. He knew all about protection. In fact he had searched a lot on them. They were 99.99% effective but he couldn't take even that 0.01 % with Khushi. He knew how important her career was for her and how extremely important the reaching of her goal was for him, hence both had restrained themselves every time they realized that things might go out of hand.
She slapped him lightly on his chest then looked up at him to find his lips close to hers. She rose on her toes to kiss those lips which were hers for ever when she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. They were standing so close to each other that even he felt the vibration. He groaned as she stepped back to answer the call. The look on her face - the look of pure joy told him who it was.
"Kannu bhaiyya" she squealed and his past experience told him that she would not keep the phone down for at least an hour

Shyam hung up his phone and smiled sadly as he thought about India - the country where she lives.
