[quote=California Girl] Ok, at the risk of offending pretty much everyone here, I will state my honest opinion. Very frankly speaking, KS forum has updates posted regularly at the same time everyday. I go there every morning (I'm in Los Angeles) and without fail, that day's update is posted. That keeps things fresh for all. People can discuss the latest developments because they all have access to the India updates. Here, unfortunately, the updating by some (not all) of the updaters has been a bit inconsistent. This leads to some mild frustration on the part of those of us here in the US who depend upon India updates. It also makes us somewhat apathetic to the SP forum. Otherwise, SP is still pretty interesting but we have to know what happened before we can comment or respond to posts. On KS, I've noticed that members (in India and outside India)are discussing that day's developments because they've all been able to get the update. Here, if someone from India posts about something that happened in SP in India today (Oct. 6), I can't comment (or at the very least, I'm at a disadvantage)because I still don't see an Oct 6 update! Members from India are also somewhat inhibited because they can't spoil the suspense by revealing plot points before the update is posted. Before you all start bashing me, please note I am only stating my opinion.

I know everyone says that the updaters are doing us a favor by volunteering and I completely agree with that. I applaud these folks for stepping up and giving it a try. I am simply saying that consistency and timeliness would also be appreciated. The fact that the updaters aren't being paid is really a non sequitur. Even if you aren't being paid, if you volunteer, you should still feel an obligation to do what you volunteered to do, and do it to the best of your ability. I liken it to my situation when I volunteer in my son's class. Although I am not being paid, I feel obligated to follow through on my commitment. Imagine if I said "I don't want to go today, or I will just show up whenever I get a chance, since I'm not being paid". The teacher and class are counting on me to come at a certain time. The fact that I am not being paid is immaterial; others are counting on me. Similarly, updaters have made a commitment and whether they are paid or not, they should have a similar work ethic. I know they all must have better things to do with their time but the fact remains that by volunteering, they have committed and they should honor that commitment.

I have been updating from February 2006 regularly till now (Oct). I think that speaks volumes abt consistency. Whenever I have not been able to I have always informed the Mods.

I have seen updaters come and go and reasons are plentiful.

How Many Members really CARE to THANK the updater? Even after the Thank you button. Compare the views with replies! That's a discouraging indicator. Just as you feel updaters to follow "timeliness" shd members not follow 'courtesy' to thank the updater? Or exhibit some regard for the time and effort put. It wld be pleasant to say that, isn't it?

SP it's a fast paced serial and the story has progressed a lot. Some find it difft to keep track with the pace. Its tough updating SP since so many twists/turns events keep happening in a single episode. After this typing is major hard work. It takes a long time to type and for me its 1-hour and 10 min to add the comments. Important and significant work will always take precedence over updating. Likewise you won't leave your work to read an update.

For discussing the excuse is unfitting since even after the updates each day there are hardly any posts. More so even the common thread (SP-Chutter Putter) is not being optimally utilized.

Its worth noting that SP does not appeal well to most of the young or youthful people since it lacks 'what' excites them. They have a right to choose what they want to watch. The core audience in viewer ship is mature age group. The issues embarked upon are real and grave and not out of a fairytale.

It's unmerited to compare any two forums just as it's unfair to compare two siblings. Each has its own attributes. I don't watch KS so can't comment. Currently SP is exciting, thrilling and emotional too. You are fully entertained.

What you are volunteering for is for your son and what the updaters do is not for someone they are related to or even met. I think it's inappropriate for you to make such a comparison. Please keep personal things out of purview.

Of course you can share your views here and that's what made me want to share the other perspective.

In case you have suggestions for making the forum exciting (games/contests/quizzes/plays/fan-fics etc) please feel free to share. Also hope we all can see You participating actively. And later you can bring your friends along!

Realitybites, I'm sorry you took this personally. I specifically stated some (not all) of the updaters have been inconsistent. You and remixrulz are great updaters and you both are regular. As I wrote my earlier post, in fact, I was specifically thinking of the two of you when I qualified my statement by saying "not all".

Regarding the volunteering in my son's class bit, I stand firm on my earlier comment. I personally consider it a commitment to the teacher and the rest of the class; not just to my son. Basically, I always live by the principle that if I have made a commitment (even to an "unseen, unknown" group) I must follow through on it and be reliable. Not everyone shares that work ethic; more's the pity. Oh well, we will have to agree to disagree on this point then.

I sincerely wish you well and thank you profusely for taking time to post your updates. Now, if only we could clone updaters like you and remix!😉

You have got a great point and we will try our best to improve it. KS has updates because people are interested in updating, in filling in. Here we have had multiple posts asking for volunteers for updating. We have given everyone an equal chance of updating by asking in these posts. If a updater is unable to update, she notifies us then we ask for replacement. I would love to update for you on time but I dont live in India so I would need the video to update and if the video is late I would not be able to update. We have kind members from N. America or UK who would update but they dont have the same episodes. Therefore I hope you understand what we are trying to say. You have ful righ to express your opnions with us so we can make this forum better and if updates is the case then we will try to improve this the best we can.

If you have any other suggestions or comments please feel free to PM any SP Dev. Team member (anjali.nair, jprasad, gk_09, realitybites) and we will have your suggestion and comments in consideration.

Thanks :)

SP Dev. Team

Thanks for reading my lengthy post and taking it in the spirit in which it was given! I appreciate your efforts in making this forum fun and interesting!

You are not offending anyone😊. We had 3 updaters but now Jaspreet is busy so she can't help us anymore. Now realitybites and remixrulz posts updates regularly. But sometimes due to some inconvinience (rarely) they can't and they inform us. But as we don't know any other updater from India then we rely on the videos and someone from US/Canada updates. This time our viewbie gurprit updated. None of the member came forward to help us. Any member is welcome to update after viewing the video. That is the reason for the delay in updates.

We have no solution for it unless more people from India volunteer to update or we get videos sooner so that someone from US can update.

Hope you and many members who have doubts about our updating schedule understand our predicament.

Thanks,

SP dev team

Anjali, thanks for your response. I can see from your various posts that you and your team are working hard at resolving the update issues. Thanks for all that you do!
