Digangana blooms with 'step-sister' act
Digangana Suryavanshi , who was seen earlier in 'Ruk Jaana Nahi', 'Shakuntala', 'Krishna-Arjun' and even did the music Video which is up on YouTube called 'I'm missing you,' and is now seen in 'Qubool Hai' on ZEE TV as the step-sister of Karan Singh Grover, speaks her thoughts aloud.
Why were you named Digangana? What is its meaning?
My parents always wanted a girl child. And when I was born, they were really happy and they searched through all books to get me a unique name and then they decided to name me Digangana which means a girl who is versatile and multi-tasking and possesses all the good qualities.
List the shows you have done?
Currently I'm doing 'Qubool Hai' on Zee TV, before this I did 'Ruk Jaana Nahi', 'Shakuntala', 'Krishna-Arjun' and I even did this music video which is up on YouTube called 'I'm missing you'.
Acting, writing or singing what do you love most and why?
I can't choose any one because they are all interconnected, it is like the soul and body and you can separate them from each other.
What is so unique about Qbool hai?
It is a show based on a Muslim background and people haven't seen a show of that genre since a long time, The Urdu language used it wonderfully, because the language is so sweet. The language has weight in it.
What is your role?
I play the character called Nuzhat, sister to Asad (Karan Grover), who wears braces and spectacles and feels absolutely confident about herself in whatever she does and proves people wrong that even a girl with braces can look beautiful and nice.
How was it like working with Karan Singh Grover?
It was great. We are like one family on the set, like siblings. Karan 'bhaiya' is so grounded and nice. He treats you so nicely. He is such a genuine person and I love that quality about him.
Do you think it is easy to play a Muslim character?
I can't say if its tough or not, but it sure is interesting because it is a character I have never played before and that's what I like, something new for me to do and that interests me quite a lot.
What are your interests other than acting?
I like painting and love playing badminton – it's like a stress-buster for me and when I'm free I watch TV and I like to socialise.
You will be giving your SSC exam this year. How will you manage acting and studies?
It is really difficult and at times it even stresses me out, but I manage to cope up with everything that I have on hand nicely and do justice to both acting and studies. I really thank my school for being so co-operative towards me and my work.
Who are your favourite Bollywood actors, male and female, and why?
Ranbir Kapoor and Aamir Khan, because I feel that they are very versatile and bring out new things in every role that they play and it's great to watch them.
I like Kajol a lot, because she has that traditional look in her eyes and her expressions are breath-taking.
You are said to be very attached to your parents...how do they motivate you?
More than my parents, I am way more attached to my maternal grandmother; she always inspires me and has complete faith and confidence in me and that confidence of hers in me will never vanish and that is what keeps me going and I feel glad that my parents and my full family have always been supportive. I am happy that they are proud of me.
The homely girl surely has a good future ahead of her!
