Fans to Big B: Why mum on UP crimes

New Delhi: Though Amitabh Bachchan penned emotional poem for the Delhi gangrape victim, he is being criticised for being silent on alleged crime against women going on in the Samajwadi Party-ruled Uttar Pradesh.

A number of people on Twitter has questioned Bachchan for not having taken any stand against deteriorating law and order situation in UP. "Mr Bachchan, you have been a supporter of one such political party and Mrs Bachchan is a member of that party. I hope both of you are aware of criminal cases pending against many MLAs and MPs of that party, which include rape cases," wrote one of the fans.

On Twitter, people have reacted sharply to Jaya Bachchan crying over the Delhi gangrape by reminding her that many such cases are taking place in Uttar Pradesh without the accused being taken to the task.
