Youth should not take law into their hands, says Ranbir Kapoor

Bollywood's chocolate boy Ranbir Kapoor has urged the youth "not to take law into their hands" while addressing a press conference in Mumbai.

The 30-year-old actor reacted to the brutal gang rape of a 23-year-old medical student on the occasion of Hope 2012 organized by Tata Memorial Centre.

"I feel bad, I feel angered, I feel like doing something. But we just hope that, this kind of evil does not exist in our country or the world. And you lose hope, because when such cases come out, you feel it's not a fair world out there, there's no goodness in the world. There's not much I want to say on this topic, than the fact that you feel really bad about it," the 'Barfi' star said.

"Every other thing is personal for everyone. I see this (Delhi gang-rape) as a personal matter, as far as movement is concerned, I don't believe the youth should indulge in it, or whether they should protest or not, however, I do believe they should not take law into their hands. Our Government and the Police are capable enough.

"Today anyone in the country is free to express his/her views, 20 years back it was not possible. Today they can stand for their rights. It's good that they are standing up for themselves; however, they should not take law into their hands. Law should itself resolve this issue," he added.

I disagree with ranbir. If youth stand up for what's right that's when the law is made. He's asking youth should not be involved in the case

On the contrary, our government and police have some serious flaws Ranbir. If the youth won't stand up and make themselves heard that this is not okay, the same effed system will continue...which is NOT acceptable.

But by that, I don't mean ki the youth should take to violence...there are peaceful ways to let the government know that we're demanding change...which is what very citizen of India should do right now. Force them to act, to change.

He has no sense of responsibility...instead of guiding the youth (as he claims he is the youth star) he is saying they shouldn't take law in hand and let govt. do the work...what world does Mr. Kapoor live in???

Didn't he see how the govt. is trying to justify their act of hitting protesters in Delhi by making false stories

Ranbir should really open his eyes. We have seen how capable Indian government and police is. If police and government don't do their job correctly and efficiently, not just youth but everyone else will definitely take law into their hands! So Ranbir kindly please be quiet.

He needed to phrase this WAY BETTER. He might be refering to the notion that the youth should not engage in violence.

It's wonderful that the youth is demanding change, of course it should be done only in a non-violent way.
