A Plea On Behalf Of Shamit and his friends
This is a plea on behalf of Shamit and his colleagues who voted for Gurpreet knowing that Kirti was the better singer. I think it is unfair that the are asked to vote in the first place against for or against a friend when the stakes are so high. Please stop making a drama of this Kirti episode. Kirti won. In fact he's become more popular now that it has been seen that injustice was meted out to him. But another injustice cannot right the first one.
You asked us to be friendly,
To live together in harmony.
We were to be like a family
To live as unit we were told repeatedly.
But as in a family we have our favourites
And just as in a family we expressed ourselves.
We let our hearts dictate our choices.
We thought that right would win anyway thanks to others' voices.
That alone was our mistake –
When we shifted responsibility onto others' stakes.
Punish us not for listening to our hearts
We got closer to some and so we all lost.
Even if as you say we manipulated,
That we played politics and we cheated;
Judge us not for living by your creed –
You said 'Iske liye kuch bhi karega' – and we paid heed.
But we did not, DID NOT, DID NOT do as you say
With a person's whole career we did not play.
Accuse us not of craving victory
So much so that we would push out Kirti.
Blame us not for wanting to ease
The exit of our dear Gurpreet.
We just didn't want a repeat of Chavi.
We didn't want to feel so guilty.
All the moral right did not help our pain.
Alas! We undergo this with more rigor again.
