I googled and found a twitter post on the same- evidently has to do with some terrible rape issue. India is currently undergoing a transition where the woman has moved from the symbol of "mother" to someone to be an "object" of desire and now with more consumerism, a woman is more "disposable" just as we "dispose" of Earth's resources. This is a deeprooted problem, not just in India, but even here in the US. Our best wishes to this cause.

A girl of around 22 years old was gang raped in the bus . So ppl are prosting against it and are asking for justice .blokes it was a very shameful act that's the reason of the protest .For me the culprit should be put immediately behind bars and should be hanged so that it is an lesson for others.

Thanks for this info ddhifan. It is indeed tragic- this incident. Having been brought up in Delhi, I saw and a target for eve teasing that could get overboard at times, and rape especially during winter months made the 3rd page news in every newspaper, almost daily. My own neighbor and friend was gang raped and went missing for almost a week before she was "found" flung along the wayside- that experience shattered her so much she could no longer speak and she "died" deep inside.

Last Friday, 20 innocent children were just massacred in a small town here. Be it violence with a gun or violence of the body, violence has certainly escalated across the board and around the world. We need to relearn the way of peace- take this very forum where for entertainment we discuss a lot- but "violent love' is preferred over "simple expressions of love".

Where do we begin? Just a march at India Gate and getting those monsters hanged- will that suffice? What are we, as a generation want for ourselves? What kind of society do we truly want? I have read a few very explicit Ff's in this very forum- evidently there is a market for such material. I am no prude to deny anyone some sexual fantasizing- however, when we were growing up there was a basic "maryada" (honor) where certain things were "implied not explicit"- today the consumeristic culture that we are catching up with is shifting many of our basic ideas of what feminine power means, freedom of female sexuality etc. (we did a lot of research on such stuff while studying literature and the shift of "implicit to explicit" qualities.

All said, the crime committed here was not human at any level. It was demonic and inhuman. As much as this needs to be condemned most severely, the question is do we even know who the perpetrators were? What about the bus driver- he didnt have a cell phone where he could send a text message while driving and get police help? they told him to keep driving and he did just that? Just as this country is now having serious discussions about Gun control, I hope India seriously looks into handling the severe case of rapists and how to teach women basic self defense techniques to ensure that every girl/ woman can handle herself in most situations. A little tae kwon do goes a long way in surprising the attacker(s).

im a delhite and i dont think so that indian parliament is that capable of making laws to punish culprits .if there is one law to punish them there r other ways to leave them .our leaders r not true .they dont do what they preach so i think its useless.from past three times we have lady chiefminister but if some henious crime like this or orther happen ,she doesnt have words to say .she just put the blame on people ..
a march procession on india gate will only help this girl but can;t stop other such incidents .

castrate them...and humiliate them in front of public...and broadcast it...so that every man who is thinking of doing something like that to a woman...think thousand times, and can't commit the crime...fansi is an easy punishment...give them worst...and not just for this case...a law should be passed across india for the same...
