One of Sub-continent's most beloved and listened singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan praising the services of late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in promoting Qawwali across the world has said that he also stepped in the field of Qawali in order to maintain the ancestral tradition.
While talking to local Urdu daily, the man with a melodious voice said many people confer me the status of Ustad (master) of music but I still deem myself an average student of world's most difficult art.
Internationally renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said that Qawwali is his familial business and his ancestors were paying homage at the tombs of religious personalities with Qawwali over centuries.
He said that late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan introduced the Qawwali art around the world and after his death it was a tough ask for me to serve it as he did in his life. "It was a challenge for me to serve Qawwali the same way as my ancestors did but I am giving my best to continue the tradition."
