Asad though a little conservative for my taste is quite a realistic character. In a society like India there are good men who have a slightly out-dated sense of thinking but that doesn't make them bad just someone who needs to get moving with the times. And Asad has had a hard childhood and who's to say that Dilshaad (his amazing mother) didn't face taunts and other such humiliations when he was a child. This may have coloured his view of the world and caused him to be protective in a more extreme way which is absolutely understandable. Plus despite his judgmental view of girls in jeans he hasn't stopped Zoya from wearing what she wants. Whatever his view he grudgingly respects her view to dress as she pleases.
I absolutely love Asad-Zoya interactions. They are fun and the actors have amazing chemistry!
Dilshaad and Najma are also amazing characters. They are real, warm, funny and elegant. This is the first time I have actually enjoyed the main male leads family!
Coming to Ayaan- So far I don't feel there is any depth to his character. I honestly wish he would grow up a little and take responsibility for his own actions. He's not a child that needs to be excused. He needs to stand up for himself and learn to fight for what he believes is right. Hopefully he gets there. :)
I am not going to talk about the rest of the members of that family. For except the three sisters and Shireen pretty much everyone in that house is despicable. I just cannot have sympathy for a man who is playing two women for the fool. Yes, Shireen was wrong but she strikes me as an easily manipulated woman and surely the onus to respect his vows is on Rashid and not on Shireen.
Anyway sorry for the long post. I really enjoy this show and I just thought I should post on this forum to discuss different views and have some fun. Thanks :)
