Let me see if I can write it all out concisely.
Though I do want to make clear that episode was another interesting episode that had my attention throughout. Job well done by the whole team.
Note: From today's episode we have no idea whether the video will be shown or not. I am just going by what seems to be Viraj's plan--prevent the video from airing.
Now by law, he's already convicted of the Domestic Violence and other crimes. That's why he was sent to the assylum. Now let's assume the video is the only copy remaining. Even if it were destroyed, it was still shown in court and was seen by others in court.
Ananya's goal is to reveal Viraj to the public and have an uproar and demand that he be jailed.
For Viraj, he can't have all this come out in public because then there would be a public outcry for his jailing and punishment. And that would be bad news for him. (Though for some reason Raj said on Friday that Viraj doesn't care what the public thinks--if that were the case, then why would he challenge Ananya?) And I can even say that if Viraj hadn't challenged Ananya, Ananya wouldn't have stopped at that sole report, but would have continued on--so the challenge to try to clear his name is beneficial to him.
So again, by law he's convicted, but if it becomes a public rally then there's more of a chance of his going to jail. Therefore it's in his best interest to make sure that video doesn't air. And the public will move on, things will die out. It's not of interest that the video had been shown in Court already. Because the goal right now is not to convict Viraj, but to show him to the public. The actual video will do definitely do the job, while a court report will not.
But. What if that DVD is not the only copy? How will deterring the showing this one time help Viraj much? All Ananya would have to do is get another copy and air it at some other time/repeat air/upload it online.
Because of this, Viraj should also be prepared with the fact that he was convicted and he did serve. He was then treated illegally with cruel and unusual punishment, for that he was released from prison.
But of course, he can't make that his first argument because he is hellbent on showing himself innocent. However, if the video plays regardless of his attempts of sabotage, then how is that going to play out? Even if he then gives the above argument that he's served his time, that would be after he's just been proven a complete liar--denying the torture, his whole testimony, etc.
So in short, all this question and testimony regarding Viraj's torture doesn't matter, because he was already convicted. What he hasn't been convicted of is giving poison to Jhanvi. (I don't really care about Raghav, because while the rewrite shows him responsible, for me I saw it as Rana's men. So there's a disconnect for me whenever he's accused of Raghav's death even if he is responsible for it. I honestly wouldn't care if he gets away with it by blaming it on Rana.)
