After watching the interaction between Sugni and Jwala, I started thinking about how the children born from relationships between a thakur and bedni are so unfortunate. I am not talking about Sugni here, but bedni children in general.

As a father, knowing that though she may be illegitimate, she has your own blood running through her veins. How can you stand back and look at your daughter doing Rai and have her sardakai done, knowing that the end result is that she is going to have sex with your neighbour or friend?
That is really sad that they don't acknowledge these children at all.

You are right they can do the sardakaai of their own daughters.
Or if the legitimate son of this thakur will go for sardhakaai of his step sis obviously the mom is a bedni the thakur knowing they are of the same blood will keep quiet.

yuck... so horrible 🤢😡.. don't they find it as incest even though they do not acknowledge the bedini as their own blood.. But in the beginning, Digvijay wanted to have Sugni and gulabiya came in the right time and apprised jwala thakur that she was his flesh and blood. Jwala had then rebuked Diggi and Saroj..😕

I remember thhe 1st 2 episodes when she threw digvijai and company out of the boat and ended up at "laal darwaza"
Gulaibiya, Soroj , Jwala and others , ironically were "thanking God" that a sin had been stopped before committed (meaning Sugni and her Half brother) hence he "forgave " her her crime.
But seeing the size of this community, incest is bound to be committed . There were so many things this show could have highlighted had they been crative enough. It is sad that they had to destroy it!

If this show would have truly focused on the plight of bedini rather than making a love-hate-revenge story in the bedini backdrop then it would have been a damn hit.. of course a scandalous one too 😉
Then each episode would have been yuck and dirtier because reality is ugly and hurts deep within..

They could have made the story of how Sugni gets acknowledged by her father. I am sure there is incest in that small village though.
But my topic was really related to real life bednis and thakurs, though. I feel really bad for these kids and I am only sorry that the CVs have shown Sugni in such a degrading light that most people have hatred for these bednis in real and reel and the kids' plight remains unacknowledged.
