Hmm, I just read the new TOI article and going strictly by what the article said, I will like to mention something here.
RK's heart, trust and his faith are sensitive, fragile , vulnerable and he has been once broken and twice betrayed. And now, he is opening his heart to his wife Madhubala. He is falling in love with her, trying to face his feelings for her , becoming obsessed with her and is possessing her. He is taking a chance once again. Its like you ask a man with a wounded leg run up the same mountain from which he fell and broke his leg. And the man tries to or rather dares to trust the mountain that it will not give away from under his feet.
And one passerby tells you not to run up that mountain - you will break your other leg also. The man looks at the mountain and he starts by taking baby steps to ensure that he can climb the mountain.
Here, RK is that man with a wounded leg, Madhubala is the mountain under a test of faith and Deepali is that discouraging passer by.
RK knows deep down that MB's love is pure and surrendered - but that doesn't stop from your old wounds rising up and warning you. Deepali is the voice of that demon who is warning him that MB loves him only for his stardom and that she too will leave him like everyone else. The scared little boy inside RK tests MB after being convinced of her feelings - Come away with me and we will run off where am just me - Rishabh and not the RK. Madhubala loves him with all that she has but she doesn't lose sight of reason or leave her responsibilities behind. For MB , that is commitment and responsibility , but for RK , that is REJECTION and BETRAYAL.
RK needs to the only love, the only priority, the only junoon and the only wholesoul for MB.And MB will learn this the very very hard way.
RK loves MB and MB loves him but their definitions of love are different.
Getting RK , losing RK and again getting RK is MB's destiny. Loving Madhubala but making her the centralpoint of his life in both love and hatred is RK's destiny.
For RK, as per this article, MB fails the first test of Aag ka Dariyaa. What he doesn't know is that this is not the first test , this is the beginning of her swim to finish. And he is waiting for her...I hope so.
RK suddenly made me think of Samar from JTHJ ( Samar ruled the film for me)
