Kareena Kapoor says pictures showing her kissing her boyfriend Shahid Kapur were doctored byMid Day and are completely false and defamatory.

In a notice from her lawyer to Mid Day, demanding that the paper either apologise or face a Rs 20 crore lawsuit, she says that the paper fabricated the photographs "in order to create cheap publicity for the newspaper."

The notice adds that Rain, the restaurant where the video clip was shot by someone sitting on the next table, has sent Kareena a letter saying that neither she nor Shahid have visited the place in the last three months.

The notice says the publishing of the pictures was tantamount to publishing obscene material.

Reply by mid day:

Our reply

• Mid Day denies it has doctored the pictures. The material in question is not a series of pictures but a video clip shot on a mobile phone.

• The video clip is present with Mid Day and with television channels and shows the couple at the restaurant very clearly.

• There is no question of the paper doing anything illegal. We do not agree that the photographs are obscene.

• We understand the reasons Kareena is upset but we do not think the issue is legal.

wow! shahid and kareena together? that is not a suprise but a shock because why would they want to be kissing in a public place RAIN restureant. i mean kisssing is not bad as long as it is PRIVATE! ahh hamm!😆
