I feel compelled to actually analyze this episode because it so strongly reminded me of da Vinci's Vitruvian Man.
Yash stands in a position of all hard lines and angles, there's little if any room for doubt or uncertainty whereas Aarti has no angles (she's the circle) much more fluid and flowing working within the confines of the situation. And neither giving a complete visual without the other.
During their conversation about lying/trust/love everything Yash said was a definitive statement and everything Aarti said could be turned into a question. And I finally got a complete picture.
More than loving Aarti Yash needs her. He is so stuck in a world of blagk and white that he's missing the finer details of life. And Aarti needs Yash not to define who she is as a woman but to block in her boundaries, to set up lines that cannot be crossed.
There's been a lot of discussion about lies and lying and it fit in beautifully here. Yash is a no lie kind of guy and in some ways that's great, in others it's not so... I'm an artist that works with up and coming artist so part of what I do every day is lie. I don't do it to hurt or mis-inform, but to encourage and help. The purpose of the lies that we tell are not to hinder but to give a leg up. And though they are lies I will never regret encouraging a fresh new voice from being heard. I don't have to like a work but I do have to appreciate the courage it takes to put yourself out there for public criticism.
All of this is just to say that Yash has effectively made it harder for Aarti to tell him the truth. His assuredness that he is right leaves her very little room to move in the confines of the situation in which she finds herself.
And Aarti's inability to see beyond the shades of gray that she is now moving through make it impossible for her to define how her will fits into the greater picture of what is happening with the Dubeys/Yash/ Ansh / Prashant/ and the BMT.
In some ways I understand where both are coming from. In art terms it works like this...the borders of every page or support control what will go on said page or support but what is between those borders is the complete construct of the artist. Sometimes there's a curve or line that starts the process of creating but once the process is started the rest is just journey. Once that journey is complete the artist either clings to their creation or lets it go. The process of blending Aarti's and Yash's points of view is and will be painful but ultimately if they can rely on what each brings to the relationship it could be a magnificent journey. Right now though I feel like I'm waiting for paint to dry.
