Rahul Vaidya will sing in 'Shaadi No.1'

It's champagne time for Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant, no doubt. But there's another lad who is celebrating with the bubbly too: Rahul Vaidya, one of the last four, who will start his playback singing career in Vashu Bhagnani's Shaadi No.1.

Vashu Bhagnani has asked Vaidya to lend his singing talent (unquestionable) to his forthcoming film Shaadi No.1 directed by David Dhawan. Vaidya has agreed.

When contacted, Bhagnani said, "Annu Malik music director of Shaadi No 1 kept telling me that Vaidya is extremely talented. I hadn't watched the earlier episodes of Indian Idol but at Anu's insistence when I did watch, I got hooked to the programme, especially Vaidya."

Bhagnani further informs that the song would be picturised on Fardeen Khan, Zayed Khan and Sharman Joshi. "Rahul's voice will be utilised for all the three heroes in the same song. I can't spill the details on how that would be done. But I promise, it's a beautiful song," he gushes.

Rahul Vaidya has recently signed a contract worth Rs. 20 lakhs with Sony Entertainment Television. Vaidya was unavailable for comment. But his sister Shruti offered, "His contract with Sony debars him from participating and judging any singing competition on any other channel, or doing any albums, for 60 days. Bhagnani's song will not be a problem."

"As far as I know, I can record with him anytime after 7 June. I may organise the song recording for 9 June," Bhagnani added.

Dhawan and Bhagnani are doing a film together after six years, their last joint effort being Biwi No 1.

Shaadi No 1 which is a laugh-a-riot stars Fardeen Khan, Zayed Khan, Sharman Joshi, Esha Deol, Soha Ali Khan, Ayesha Takia, Sophia Chaudhry, Riya Sen, Aarti Chhabria, Satish Shah and Rajpal Yadav.

Indian Idol finalist first solo album

Indian Idol finalist and Oshiwara resident Rahul Vaidya will release his first solo album in Aug. The music has been director by Sajid-Wajid, and the album, being launched by Sony-BMG, includes seven love songs. Moreover, four songs from the album have already been made into music videos.

"I am very excited about the album," says Rahul, who has been deeply interested in music since the age of three. "I always dreamt of becoming a playback singer and Indian Idol was the right platform to realise my dream," he says.

Rahul considers music director and Indian Idol judge Anu Malik, to be his mentor. He says, "I am very grateful to Anu Malik who realised my talent and gave me a chance to sing. I am very thankful to him for supporting me all the way"

He continues, "Anu Malik was very disappointed when I didn't become the Indian Idol, and he did not let me get discouraged. He motivated me and now I am releasing an album of my own."

Rahul is currently also learning Indian classical music from Suresh Wadkar. Moreover, he recently passed the classical music exam from Prayag Sangeet Samiti.

Rahul, who got a Rs 20 lakh contract from Sony despite coming third in the competition, says, "I think it was purely because of bad luck that I didn't become the Indian Idol."

Speaking about his current inspiration, this Mohammed Rafi fan, says, "I have always admired Sonu Nigam and now that I am slowly becoming a part of the industry, I hope to learn a lot from."

Rahul has already sung for some films, which include two songs in Shaadi No 1 and one song in Kisko Pyar Karun.

Since the success of the Indian Idol, Rahul has performed frequently on television, especially for Sony TV. He is currently in Bangladesh with Prajakta (another Indian Idol contestant) for a television show.

Rahul says that his parents have been his greatest support. "They allowed me to skip my HSC exam since I was participating in Indian Idol. They have great faith in my talent," he says.

But now Rahul is seriously planning to achieve a balance between his studies and his music.
