Actor John Abraham is the sexiest man alive. So says a list released by a magazine.He has raced ahead of some of the topmost Bollywood stars to win the title of Sexiest Man Alive, 2012.The hunky star has women swooning over his hot bod today, but John surprisingly reveals that he's actually come a long way from being a 'gawky' youngster who could not even speak to girls.

"I went through a stage when I couldn't look into the eyes of a girl and talk to her. I've stood alone in a corner at parties. I have had beefy guys and their friends laugh at me," John said.

The actor had earlier been voted among the top 25 sexiest men in the world. He admits that today he's in a happy space personally and professionally and that these tags are just the icing on the cake. "Tags like these help you know that the industry acknowledges you and your body of work," he says.

Ask him about the emphasis here being on the 'body', and he laughs, "I don't think that the two can be separated. I think sexy goes beyond looks, it's your personality and the work is as much a part of that. I think being titled sexy is not a compliment solely for the looks. That's also why it matters to me at some level."

And it is work that is keeping him on his toes these days. The actor who is currently concentrating on his action avatar with films like Race 2, Shootout At Wadala and Jaffna to look forward to, shares, "I want to push the envelope onscreen as an actor and off screen as a producer, besides pushing the fitness levels of course."

Talk of competition and John reveals that he's very secure in his space, even though he looks at it as encouragement. In fact, John is also all praises for the actors who've won the title in the past including buddy and co-star Akshay Kumar who he considers to be 'beyond handsome', Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan, and last year's winner Hrithik Roshan with whom he shares a deeper connection.

"I'm biased towards him. We have been classmates since kindergarten. We were both imperfect kids back then. Today, Hrithik is perfect in every sense of the word," John reportedly said about Hrithik. As for Salman with who he reportedly shared cold vibes at one point, he said, "He has always been the best looking man in the film industry across all age groups. I like the touch of innocence on his face."

But shift gear to the home front and ask him about lady love Priya Runchal and he says that he's "very happy in my present state". "I just don't let anything affect me negatively," he smiles.

The People magazine has declared Bollywood hunk John Abraham as the sexiest man alive on Earth. The heartthrob, who is known for his killer looks and chiseled torso is gracing the cover page of the magazine.

Looking pleased during the launch at F.Bar on Wednesday, John has been called 'fit and fabulous' by the magazine which did not miss revealing Salman Khan's secrets of staying sexy.
