Zayed Khan is gearing up to build his dream home in Juhu. This means he will be moving out of Sanjay Plaza, the Khans' family home. The actor is also preparing to launch his home production, Legend of Ram – Prince of India, a period film, under his Kingdom Films banner.
Zen effect
Says Zayed, "It will take at least a year to build. I'm building the bungalow very close to my parents' home. I can't stay away from my family. I love them too much. But I have always wanted my own house. Currently, my wife Malaika and I are looking out for a good architect to design the bungalow. I'm starting from scratch and am going to be involved all the way!"
Zayed is very sure what he wants for his dream bungalow. "It's going to be very minimalist with lots of open spaces. I saw Kenzo's home and I loved the idea. It has a very Zen feel to it. I want my dream bungalow to be just like that."
Future's bright
Zayed is currently in Cape Town (South Africa) shooting for Anubhav Sinha's Cash, and regularly goes shopping for his new home.
"A couple of days ago, I had gone shopping and I suddenly found myself looking at chairs, tables, furniture, crockery and cutlery. I guess Malaika has domesticated me! I think it's because I am building my home now."
Besides his dream home, there are two other things that Zayed is looking forward to: the release of his next film, Rocky, and the floating of his own banner, Kingdom Films (he will produce films jointly with father, Sanjay Khan). "Yes, it will be my kingdom and I will be staging my own world," Zayed jokes. But he's very serious about his production company. "Our first production has been finalised. It will be a historical, Legend of Ram — Prince of India, and will be based on the life and times of Lord Rama. As of now, I am not sure whether I will be acting in it.
Being an expensive and meticulously researched project, the film will take some time to get made. To act in it, I will have to put my other projects on hold. I'm not sure whether I want to do that right now, so let's see." |
