well i don't think its subjective- it becomes once you watch it with a biased approach which is mostly there! We all have a soft corner towards our favorites and when they perform better compared to themselves we start hailing it as the best performance ever!

but i strongly feel if one acts well/poor- there can be a united opinion based on his performance. For example vidya in TDP- not even those who hate her have ever called that performance poor, this does show that we all have a united approach towards one's acting and the variations are only there either when we are biased or being delusional- because its not hard to have one opinion on some one's acting i believe-hence not really subjective!

Very controversial and very good topic. Lots of people will go for subjective, because their favourites are not the top of the crop when it comes to acting.

The truth is that you can either act or cannot.
The truth is that many so-called actors and actresses are rather stars rather than actors. And this is due to their script sense and choosing movies that connect with the audience rather than whether the script connects with actors. Examples...Katrina is no actor in any realm, but she knows what the audience wants and is able to choose the films that caters wholly to the audience. Kareena has no idea what the audience really wants and chooses movies on the basis of what clicks for her at that particular moment, but bad movie or weak script or not, she nails the acting part each and every time. The only time she really disappointed me with regards to acting was in that crappy movie where she plays the model turned surgeon with Akshay..cannot remember the name.
Even though I find Katrina very cute and beautiful, and she is a wonderful dancer, she disappoints me in almost every movie, whether the movie is a blockbuster or not.
I do not like Naseerudin Shah as an actor, he is not some-one whose movies I look forward to, but I will not ever deny the class and ease with which he performs. He has mastered his craft and his performances are brilliant. Difference is that his acting does not touch me, and therefore leaves me indifferent. There is the subtle Naseerudin Shah(KonKona), the large than life Amitabh Bachchan(Kareena), the dramatic Shah Rukh(Priyanka), the effortless Amir(Vidya) and mind-blowing Hritik(Deepika) or the ever versatile Ranbir(Anushka), but these actors/actresses have real talent, whether they have to work at it (Deepika) or it comes naturally (Kareena/Anushka)
One can be subjective with regards to likes or dislikes of actors and actresses, that is a personal prerogative, but one should be as objective to the actors ability and credit given where credit is due, whether one is a fan of said actor or not.
I am a Katrina fan, but I will whole-heartedly agree that she has just about 3 expressions, but I like her because she is just so damn cute and I enjoy her dancing so much. Also she is usually spot-on when it comes to what the audience wants that I generally make an effort to watch her movies, because there is almost always a well-rounded entertainment value, if not for her acting skills, or should I say lack of it.😆
Oh, I am a huge Kareena fan as well. Anyone think that a psychologist will have a field day with my extreme choices.😆😆
