Part 18: Flute of Krishna

Rajlaxmi was restlessly wandering in the balcony when she discovered someone inside the temple .. the royal messenger. He was still there staying as the guest. She ran to him if he can give her some information. She introduced herself and asked about Shantanu in one breath. And the reply was what she wanted to hear but never expected. Shantanu is alive .. her heart danced like a peacock. She was coming back running, actually racing with the wind, when something strike her mind. The messenger said Devduttji knows everything then why he lied? A frown came on Rajlaxmi's forehead. She has seen no guard outside the temple but she knew Devdutt has spoken to some soldier. Rajlaxmi thought, no they are not soldier, actually, former robbers who left robbery in Devdutt's influence. They follow Devdutt blindly. Still they are enough powerful to protect temple from invaders, Devdutt said her. But where are they? With so many questions he went to Devdutt's room but found no one. Agony, fear, ominous thought started to knock on her brain. Maanendra has gone in search of Shantanu. May be Devdutt has come to know about him and want to harm him. She ran towards Maanendra's place. An unknown man was guarding the empty hut of Maanendra blocked her way.

"Where is Maanendra? Who are you?"

"I am his royal guard. Who are you?"

Rajlaxmi didn't understand how Maanendra can have a royal guard but she didn't have time to think, "I am the foremost devdasi of Madanmohan temple. Maanendra's life is in danger. Save him please."

Rajlaxmi came back. Her legs were pulling her weight with much difficulty. Geetasri.. what she will say to Geet didi? sHould she tell her now.. No she can't. She must wait .. no she must face her now .. Rajlaxmi was unable to decide what to do. After a long confusing and complicated mind process she went to Geet's room "Geet didi" She opened the door. Geet was not there. Rjlaxmi searched but Geet was nowhere in the temple.

Movement was coming back in Geet's motionless body. She tried to open her eyes. But she could see only darkness around her. Her head was aching badly. Something cold hit her skin like a snake is breathing on her face. Geet stretched her eyelids forcefully. A humanlike structure was sitting there in shadows leaning on her face. "Maan" the first name come to her mind. But the next moment the man moved at the side where hundreds of lamps were blazing. "Devdutt ji?" Geet mumbled in disbelief. She was unable to comprehend what is happening. It wasn't her room, She wonders if it is inside Madanmohan temple or not. She roamed her eyes on the wall no it is not Madanmohan temple. But she knows this place. It is Radha-Madhab temple. She is in a room alone with Devdutt half enlighten with lamps half is still in dark. Geet come out of the bed. It wasn't a bed but a pile of sheets where she was lying. Nothing was making sense to her. She had so many things to ask but most importantly she wanted to leave this place.

"Geetasri I have something to say." Devdutt said taking two steps towards her.

His words created an eccentric response in Geet's heart, something ominous, something menacing was surrounding her senses. She tried to move but Devdutt stood firm closing her path.

"I want to go back at my place. Please let me go." Geet said trying to avoid eye contact.

"Until you don't hear me, you won't be free from here." Devdutt's baritone dismissed Geet's request bluntly.

Geet was flabbergasted. She looked at Devdutt in disbelief. It was difficult to recognize her known Devduttji in the man who was proceeding towards her. Her expression changed from disbelief to annoyance and fear. Her voice reflected the same, "But it's too late" Geet was talking looking at the floor. Her mind wasn't ready to see Devdutt the way he is looking now. "It's not right for the Mohant of the temple to be alone with a devdasi in this hour." Without looking at him she could feel Devdutt's proximity. Geet tried to continue his lines but her voice was getting choked. She tried to step backward when Devdutt's soft voice made her motionless for a moment.

"Why always you see Mohant in me, the priest of Madanmohan temple, can't you feel I also have a human heart, which is not great as a God but as complicated as a normal human. My heart can also beat for someone like you. Haven't ever you thought so?"

Geet's every bit of conscious was asking her to ran away from the place, though her eyes wasn't able to find an escape. For the last time she tried to dominate her fear and to speak or to fake innocence. May be her old nave form will bring the old Devdutt back, "What are you saying Devduttji. I am not able to understand."

"You are not that innocent Geetasri. Not any more" In a blink Devdutt's pitch changed. All softness seemed a distant imagination before the present austerity. "You have lost to somewhere or someone, isn't it?" Geet was both confused and shocked. Does he know about Maan and now it's her punishment time. She really didn't know how to react only her eyes gave a puzzled looks to Devdutt only to witness a never before violence in his eyes. He was not talking he was roaring. Before Geet could understand anything Devdutt suddenly hold her arms and shouted, "just remember one thing you are mine Geetasri and you will remain so." He jerked Geetasri madly. Geet was shocked, stunned. Her whole survival grumbled in disgust, "You are out of sense Devduttji." She tried to shove him.

"Out of sense, yes out of sense .. Yes I have gone out of sense for you girl." Devdutt pushed her away. "Not today but a long time ago. I have taken care of yours, protected you, saved you but you," He was mumbling those words in a low voice and the next moment he came back to his aggressive form along with his voice, "Out of sense! Huh I have gone out of morality, out of humanity for you. Sacrificed my conscience, sold my discretion for you, and you didn't even think twice before going with that sculptor."

"I love him" Geet replied firmly preventing Devdutt to proceed with his words. She couldn't understand half of what Devdutt said but mention of Maan erased all confusion in a while. From the beginning she was worried thinking if someone comes to know about her and Maan's relation what will happen but now that secret is revealed to Devdutt her fear was nowhere to her heart. What she wanted to conceal is out now then what the fear is? "I love Maanendra." She repeated her line in unshaken voice.

Devdutt was silenced by Geet's fearless acceptance. He took a few minute and moved towards the window. A sudden blow of wind put off the remained flames of lamps. Again darkness prevailed and an eerie stillness was there to accompany. Geet was trying to move away without making a sound when Devdutt spoke again, "you love Maanendra? Huh what do you know about love. I have given everything in your love. You wanted to be the foremost Devdasi of this temple na?" Geetasri stopped retreating in the mention of this topic. "Do you know what a Foremost devdasi has to do? What happens in the trip? What does serving those priests mean?" Devdutt took a dramatical pause to spare a glace on Geet's confused face. "More than you they wanted you to be the foremost devdasi. Like a vulture waits for death of a living soul, they were waiting for that announcement so that they could feast on your body. I have seen vitiated lust in the eyes of those libidinous. I tried but they left me with no other option but to replace you with Rajlaxmi for sake of your protection. I committed a horrible sin only for you. Today I am a sinner, a man without peace only for you'"

Geetasri's face turned pale, lifeless in the revelation of the truth. Her world seems to collide in front of her. In a moment all her faith, beliefs turns into a big hollow, a non-existing illusion. She looked at Devdutt. Is he the man whom she knew or it was his mask? Or in this mundane masks and faces are inseparable? She didn't know how to react when disclosure of Rajlaxmi's story broke her down totally. Her legs failed to carry her weight; she sat down on the floor crying her heart out. Rajlaxmi, her only friend in this temple, the little girl whom she loved like sister has been thrown to hell at her place. Now she knows the reason of Raj's hatred. Geet heard nothing what Devdutt was telling, she didn't think where she is now. Only thing was going on her mind the innocent girl is living in her share of hell.

"Geetasri, Geetasri?" Geet came back to her conscious hearing Devdutt's voice but her mind was still occupied with Rajlaxmi's thought. Still her face was blank, "I have to go to Raj now. I need to talk to her." Geet tried to stand up in her shaking legs.

"you are not going anywhere" Devdutt declared forwarding his hands to help her to stand up in her legs. But his simple touch made her retort. For the first time Geet felt immense hatred and anger for someone, "Don't touch me you spineless coward. I feel ashamed that I used to admire a hypocrite, liar like you. You were my teacher chi. Talk about great ethics and a deceitful soul in real. How easily you replaced me with Rajlaxmi and still keep on posing as the great Mohantji in front of everyone."

"I did it because I loved you" Devdutt did a desperate attempt to prove his point.

"And I hate you." Geet's hatred evolved in a way that she even can't imagine she can hate someone like this, "You filthy monster you can't love anyone."

"You hate me huh.. who are you to hate me?" Devdutt's voice was cracking. Pain, anger, desperation he was living all the emotion at the same moment. "Whatever I have done I have done for you. Yes I have wronged but not with you. You can't accuse me. Filthy, monster .. If I have become such that's only for you. No matter how but I saved you. Every day I am experiencing hell only for you. You, you, you .. Geetasri you are the root cause for my fall, for Rajlaxmi's pain still she has forgiven you, still I love you then why can't you. Why can't you forgive me, love me?"

Geet has nothing to reply. Yes, who is she to hate Devdutt. It was her who turned a saint into a monster, an innocent girl into a .. she couldn't think anymore. Tears were making her view blur. Her brain was rejecting to face any more truth. Her exhausted mind was searching for an escape with her Maan. "Maan take me from here," her heart shouted but her voice didn't help her. Only a low whisper came, "Please Devduttji stop, I am not able to hear anymore. Leave me, spare me."

Devdutt came closer to her, "Geetasri I don't want to make you cry. I love you. Just accept that you are mine, only mine." Devdutt's existence seems like an existence of dead man to her. She looked at him but not a single word entered her ear. She was silent, numb. Devdutt wanted a minimal reaction for her, but her absolute silence made him restless. He took one step forward to hug her but Geet snapped out from her numbness.

"Devdutt ji neither I can forgive you, nor I can love you. I have given my love, my everything to my husband. I am married to Maan." Geet said looking straight at Devdutt.

"Married?" Devdutt frowned.

"Yes, we married each other following Gandharb ritual."

Devdutt remain silent for sometime. And then his piercing laughter made Geet confused. She noticed the last tress of softness has been disappeared. Only a cruel violence took over his face. Geet didn't know this Devdutt. "Married following Gandharb ritual? Huh nobody follows this ritual in this society." He mocked.

"Ved allows, our religion allows"

"Ved allows a lot of thing Geetasri, society doesn't. Religion? Who knows what actually religion is .. society norms has become religion now.And have you forgotten you are a devdasi. Devdasi can't get married. They are just like tawaif .. can't be anyone's wife. You are no exception. You are nothing but this temple's property. And I have right over all the possessions of this temple. So by default you are mine. My property indeed. No random sculptor can snatch you from me"

"He is my husband" Geetasri roared in rage.

"Shut up. Devdasi can't have a husband. They can have a master only like a .." Devdutt was going to make an ugly statement but before that Geet slapped him. In a fraction of second she stormed out of the room. Her humiliated, tormented soul wanted to run away. Her thoughts were jumping on each other. 'God why this night is so long' cried her heart. But to her dismay the night was yet to end. She could only cross two steps Devdutt like a creature of darkness appeared in front of her. He held her hand and started pulling her with force. Geet tried to protest but she fell weak in front of him. She cried, shouted, begged but the monster didn't stop. She cursed he ignored. "I have already dug my way to hell, what your curse will do to me. But I will make sure that you also burn in the same blaze I am burning. I won't let you be someone else's. You are mine and tonight I will make you mine" Devdutt was almost running, Geet's feet were getting wounded in the stones of stair. She stumbled, fell down for numbers of times but Devdutt dragged her like a mad bull and finally throw her inside a hall.

Geetasri was panting. Blood was oozing out of her wounds. She tried to recognize the place. She was sitting in the 'Natmadir,' (the hall just opposite the Garvagriha) of Radha-Madhav temple . The room has only one gate from where devotees can see the God. But this temple is without God and the gate is now closed by Devdutt. Geet knew this place, this room very well. Maanendra has curved so many beautiful structures on the wall of this room. Most of them are from great epics n Puran stories. Bramhani river is flowing just behind this room. One can see it from the window of this room. So many times she would sit there and observe him to work or keep on asking mindless questions, even incite a stupid fight just to grab his attention and divert him for his work. After their marriage her place changed, from the window pane she landed on Maan's lap. Every afternoon she would hear stories from Maan. Maan used to be a great story teller. Geet would have been engrossed in the story just before the climax he would give a pause and started kissing on her neck, nape, on her choli. His slender fingers played over her skin making her lose her sense before sensation. And the moment she reached the verge of losing her sanity Maan would make a serious face. "So where did we reach?" He gave pause to confuse Geet.."The story," .. Maan said bluntly as if nothing happened and started the story again. How many times she thought to discontinue his story with a kiss. Her passion burned her from inside but her coyness didn't let her proceed. It was the same place where they used to sit every afternoon. Maan's thought made her smile but it came along with a drop of tear. If only she could see her Maan for once. The monster is coming towards her. His shadow reached her body. Geet stared retreating. She stood on her feet. But she knew she didn't have a place to go, she is confined here. She reached at the last corner of the room, her back touched the wall.

Geet knew Devdutt has lost his last bit of sense. He was a great man maybe that's why his fall was greater. Still she tried for last time, "Devdutt don't step forward .. you don't know what you are saying. Your one step can push you in the hollow of misery .." but Devdutt's savage laugh stop her in midway, "You are giving threat of death to a dead man? Geetasri you still didn't understand I have no hope. I have made my way to hell after my death. I know my sentences but in this world I will have my share of heaven with you."

Geet looked her sideways .. it was the wall where Maan curved the definitive incident of Mahabharata .. Draupadi's Vastraharan. This particular sculpture always used to make Geet curious. This very part of the epic made her ask a thousand of questions to Maan and the biggest one was of them was "If Shri Krishna was there then why didn't he came to stop this, to punish Duhsashan and others. Why he left Draupadi alone? Why he didn't come in front of everyone?" Why this, why that? Before she could proceed more with her quarries Maan replied her "Because Shri Krishna wasn't present there."

"but he was there .. I read it.. he helped Paanchali. See you also curved him here."

"Krishna was inside paanchali."

Still it wasn't clear to Geet. And now when Duhsashan's hands are about to reach her honor she realized Maan's words. Krishna was in Paanchali's mind, in her strength, in her mighty spirit. Increasing the length of her sari wasn't the matter, Duhshashan defeated in front of Draupadi's fortitude and Shri Krishna was the source of her strength. Shri Krishna is source of all force. One only needs to feel Him inside her and all evil will fall weak in front. Geet could hear Devdutt's footstep coming near, could imagine the licentious smile on his lips even closing her eyes. But they didn't bother her sense .. she was trying to find something beyond them. And she found it. A sound, sound of waves, sound of Bramhani river which is flowing outside, beneath the window, almost touching this temple. A sound very low, very soft but as melodious as the flute of Shri Krishna. Geet's lips curled in a calm smile. Devdutt's raised hand stopped in midway. Geet's burning eyes looked straight at Devdutt, "You neither can have me nor my love. I don't know if I can ever meet Maan or not but we will remain together in our heart and your memory. Even if this universe forgets you won't be able to forget our love along with us. Be it in your hatred, in your anger, jealousy or repentance we will be alive. Your death isn't your punishment your life is. Stay alive." In a blink Geet moved away from the place and Devdutt saw Geet standing on the window pane. Geet's whole body shined in the first sunbeam of new day and the next moment she jumped into the river. Devdutt shouted. He tried to reach Geetasri but only Geet's dupatta remain there hanging from the window pane.

Devdutt didn't know what time it was, a many devdasis including Rajlaxmi opened the door after much work and discovered a lost, defeated Devdutt in a strange trance inside the room and Geet's dupatta still hanging and tossing in the air .. giving witness against Devdutt's crime. Quarries, anger, hatred, disbelief .. those pairs of eyes has so many expressions. They were asking numerous questions to Devdutt and Devdutt had nothing but silence to give in reply.. only humming of waves echoed everywhere like the flute of Krishna.

I know my return wasn't that good na?? as No Maaneet scene again but what to do .. Mrityunjai is a story what I have planned in a certain way n even me can't change it .. trust me, me too love to rite MAANEET scene most but when the story is planned it's planned .. n for all the proximity between Devdutt n Geet .. sorry once again I know u ppl don't like it .. me too don't like to write it so ds update took a long time to write .. coz I was afraid .. hope u wont mind n will understand me .. waiting for ur reviews, so

Her excitement about shantanu's safety washed away when she find out devdutt's lie and then devdutt was missing from his place

She quickly thought about maan's safety

I always felt maan and rajlakshmi here like two brother sister or two friends who can understand each other

How rajlakshmi share her pain to maan once and how rajlakshmi went to maan for her love

It's so natural

Then rajlakshmi went to maan's home to find him and got another surprise as royal guard is guarding maan's home but she has done quickly what is needed for that time

She said about maan's danger and said to save him

Then she went to meet geet after so much fighitng with her inner turmoil and emotions as should she disclose this to geet or not finally decided to disclose when she got another shock of geet's missing

And all r happening cause of one creature or vulture devdutt

Now come to the another imp and major and cruical part of this update

Face off geetasari and devdutt

Geetsarai waking up but first what she felt devdutt and it's like some poison , well compare devdutt and his breath with poisonous snake

On that place first name she uttered "MAAN" her man , her life, her husband, her soul ,

Then she got the shock of her life to see "devdutt" there

She recognize the place where she kept still so many thing yet to reveal

Then the way u compared the geet and devdutt's condition and situation with lamp and it's light and darkness of below the light of lamp

Geet thinks right, she want to move the place as it's suffocating for her and unknowingly devdutt's presence increase it

Geet' s fear, tension increase but she want to go from here but devdutt want her to stay there and it's give shock and the way devdutt said it

His proximity creates problem for geet

She doesn't like it as she felt a snake is coming towards her

Geet still try to go away from there and stop devdutt but devdutt's shameless and evil confession make her stunned and shocked

Geetasari again trying to stop him but devdutt is adament

Geet can guessed well that devdutt know well about her and maan's relation and then devdutt's another shameless , evil confession make geet full froze

Geet retort back , once geet feared about her and maan's hidden relationship but now heard devdutt, geet strongly stand for herself and their love and relationship

And well confessed about her love for maan boldly

Loved this geet, determined and bold and strong geet who can stand for herself and her love and her marriage and her Maan

Even Devdutt shocked to see this new Geetasari who is Maan ki Geet more who can stand for truth and love

Devdutt doesn't love , he obessed about Geetasari or lust her

What he is saying about his love is completely obsession

Now devdutt took another cruel and evil path to destroy geet's mind and determination by revealing the cruel , bitter truth about this cruel bitter society , about ill fate of Rajlakshmi

And it's happen, it's shook geet and her inner self to the core

She faced the cruel, bitter love and truth about her life, Rajlakshmi's life and this society

Really major part of this society and devdutt is wearing a mask and showing another things ,

For geet's it's huge blow and she thought that it's all r illusion , really a big hollow there

Geet completely broke down after heard about rajlakshmi's fate

Rajlakshmi who is like her little sister, friend took all and y the reason broke her more

It's huge blow for her how much geet want to meet Rajlaksmhi and want to erase those memories if she can, want to share her sorrow but that evil monster Devdutt stopped her there for his own selfish reason

And GEETASARI , GEET,MAAN KI GEET retort back her hatred, disgust r coming out from her words

It's also blow for Geet once she thought devdutt is respectable man , her teacher but all respect r going out after heard about his sin .

Devdutt is still like shameless creature , declared his love once again but geet said her hate for him

Then devdutt start another game, he start and try to put his sin on geet's shoulder

How cheap, narrow, shameless, selfish, cowered is devdutt

What is geet's fault in this

It's not her fault as she is beautiful

It's not her fault as she is women

It's not her fault those monster r looking at her

It's not her fault that devdutt obsessed about her

It's not her fault devdutt try to save her for his own gain

It's not her fault

Whatever happen was worst but it's by those monster and their norms

It's really ill fate of Rajlakshmi or more devdutt's sin and deed and those priest who were monster who has commit sin by spoiling her life and numerous devdasi's life in the name of religion , rules, norms

Chi devdutt he is not man, no man can do this , he is monster who want to destroy everything

In his obsession

Here geet just want to hide herself in maan's arms

Want to go away from here

Want her maan just come there and take her from there

How much those words by devdutt killed her

She wants to stop , she plead to devdutt but that monster only know ot hurt people , killed people's soul , heart.

But geet's determined, maan's love make her strong and she again stand for herself and after hearing devdutt's shameless word ,

She roared and shouts and declared she is only maan's

She is maan ki geet. She loves maan, married to him only ,

Her determined and bold declaration about her marriage with maan , make devdutt startled but that monster here also start his cheap game

About their marriage, devdutt took some cheap game and try to hurt geet and try to break geet's faith, determination by some society so called fake, cheap, norms

I'm stunned shocked to see dev's cheapness, dev stoop so low there is no coming back from him

He insult, humiliate maaneet's marriage ,maaneet's love and maan when geet roared like tigress and give ans back to Devdutt on his face.

Finally devdutt crossed the last bit of sanity , and geet slapped him hard on his face

Devdutt really lost it and lost his brain, mind everything and become a monster who can rot in hell

He hurt geet , humiliate geet, insult geet and now how he can claimed he loved geet

He only lust geet no love is there

How much geet wanted to go away from there to hide her wounded soul ,humiliated soul and want to take solace from her maan, but GOD and destiny wrote something more for her and the exam, is still there for her

Devdutt crossed all limits but what he forget that GOD is there and he is watching everything when he will justify this cruel act by devdutt's sin what devdutt will do

Devdutt took geet in Natmancha near to GarvaGriha of Raj Madhav Mandir with his ill intention and forget that there is GOD

Natmancha where maan make many curved many structures where maaneet share many moments together where geet came to know many things , where maan loved her, teased her and teach her also unknowingly

Geet is still trying to stop the monster but monster forget everything and walking towards his ends

From the place geet got her inner strength by what she can fight with devdutt who is now like Duryodhon or Dushashan but Devdutt forgot the histroy of them

And the way u described geet's situation with "Draupadi's Cheerharan" kudos to u dear

Krishna is our strength, spirit, power, trust everything and from this, and geet got the power

Maan unknowingly also helped geet

And SRI KRISHNA IS THERE TO HELP HER
