" GET OUT!"

Khushi trembled to the intensity of the phrase. Her breath quickened and heart slapped continuously against her chest at a record level speed.

"you're still standing? I SAID GET OUT!"

She flinched at the bitterness of the voice. She stood unaware and confused to what caused the sudden outburst.

"Arnav?"

"I said Leave"

The finality in his tone left her by no choice but to leave.

Arnav Singh Raizada stood clenching his fist and taking deep breath as he tried to subside the anger but it kept on increasing.

How dare she? Who is she? Why did she?

Arnav and Khushi knew each other insides out, they were best friends since they were born. Arnav couldn't have mistaken to read her eyes which always spoke volumes of love for him. He was in love with her since 'well that's still a mystery to him. He has been for her and vice versa all through their life and he wanted this to happen till he took the last breath. He wanted to officially ask her out and make her his.

But'

"Arnav! Aunty is searching bride for you."

"She is thinking of Lavanya Kashyap"

"She is beautiful, good natured and quite nice"

"You both look so good together"

"I guess you should marry her.

"Rab ne bana di Jodi"

A poor glass remained laid broken on the floor, the result of Arnav's fury.

"Arnav please help me with the sum"

A smile flickered her lips when she recalled how he banged his head while explaining a simple sum to her.

"Arnav I have cooked food for the first time, I want you to taste"

A laugh escaped as she remembered his purple blue face while he ate the non-edible food and complimented her with a smile.

"Arnav ma scold me again"

A small tear trickled down as she recalled how he held her hands, wiped her tears and patted her back while calming her down.

He has been always with her. He always took care of her. He always loved her, but did he love her the way she always wanted too? Does he want her in his life?

She wanted to know and she decided to confide him. She reached his house and to know what is inside his heart cooked up a story of his proposed alliance but to her horror was shown the door.

He had made himself unavailable to her since then. No calls, no talks, no fight' just nil.

Khushi wanted her friend back, wanted his presence by her side but she was refused. She cried over her pillow unaware of the fact that his eyes also remained brimmed with tears. She remained unaware of the fact; he stood outside her room's window for hours, caressed her picture, played their moments numerous times in his mind and controlled his urge to see her flesh and blood.

"Arnav" he heard her, from her room. She has found him standing below his room's window. He saw her face breaking into grin amidst tears and turned his heels to exit the place.

He fastened his steps as he heard her running. His hands were clasped into hers instantly.

"Won't you speak to me?"

A broken sob escaped her lips and her grasp was jerked off by Arnav.

"I decide everything for myself", he turned and bellowed in his deep baritone, anger flashing through his eyes. Khushi took a step backward and he took one forward.

"I decide with whom to SPEAK, TALK, LAUGH, LOVE and MARRY" Khushi found her entrapped by her shoulders.

"I have decided whom I want to Love and Marry"

"W-who?", she felt her heart pumping loudly.

"you", he confessed and left her arm to leave but was stopped.

" Arnav, please decide to hug me", Arnav's eyes softened at her words and tears . He embraced her with all his love. They basked in their new found happiness.

Prologue - Arnav comes to know the truth of Shyam and therefore tries to undo the mistake he has done by setting Khushi free from his clutches.

Set you Free

The screech followed by a halt brought Khushi out of the reverie. Soon she found herself unbuckled from the seatbelt by her husband Arnav, who kept a poker face all throughout, not giving out what's in his mind.

"Tum Theek ho?", he asked and she nodded though a sharp pain shoot out through her heart. Her eyes were on the verge of brimming and blurring her vision but she clamped them shut to shoo away the feeling of separation.

Arnav Singh Raizada was setting her free.

Arnav escorted her towards her house and turned to go back.

"You wont come inside?", a quiet plea from her side.

"I'll take my leave", he did not face her. "Remember Khushi I will always be there. Whatever you need just tell me. Good Night and Good Luck."

He left.

Atleast show me your face for the last time.

Let me capture you in my heart for eternity.

But he was gone.

She missed his fixed gaze through his rear view mirror as he left.

Arnav parked the car a little away from her house. He did not have the strength to drive. His every ounce of energy was used up in making up his mind to set her free. To undo the injustice he had done. To repent for the misunderstanding he had, the tortures he gave, the pain he presented. He rested his head on the headboard and let the salty tears flow. One, two, three… uncountable drops trickled down his face. He'd lost everything. He'd lost his Khushi. It was a well deserved punishment for him. To live the rest of the life without breathing, to bear the shooting pain in his heart, which he is having right now, all through his life.

But he was happy.

Happy to return his 'life' her deserved life, away from him, the monster.

Arnav entered 'their' room quite late, wandering here and there. He seemed to have lost the direction.

The room welcomed him blankly with darkness , lingering with her scent. His heart constricted more with pain as he realized the corners of his room were filled with her mischief, her laughter.

He sank himself beside their bed, to floor, his head inside his palms.

It is difficult than he thought.

Clink…Clink…Clink

His head shot up. Her bangles.He huffed and hid his head once again. Must be his hallucination.

Chan…Chan..Chan

His head again shot up to the sound of her Payals. This is frustrating and painful, he groaned.

"Arnavji?"

He heard her and stood up, gauging here and there and found her by the poolside, facing him, with her own pool of tears.

Arnav stumbled and reached the poolside, scared. This cannot be his hallucination.

She is here, she is in front of him.

"K..khushi?", a soft whisper with his trademark husk.

Khushi closed her eyes in bliss. It's been hours she heard him calling her.

"ArnavJi?"

"You came back?", he was dazed and she nodded.

"I set you free", he explained in dazed and she nodded again.

"Then why?"

"Because you set me free", she answered and neared him cupping his face.

"…and I decided to lead my life with my Arnavji", she wiped his tears with her thumb. The other hand found his pocket bringing out stack of bandages.

"I wanted to put a good used to these bandages which you keep handy and wrap around me whenever I get hurt"

He took a shallow breath.

She again feasted his pocket and brought out a pom pom of her dress.

"I wanted to see the collection of pom poms you have made from my dresses"

His eyes brimmed with tears and he found her taking out her payal from his breast pocket.

"I wanted to wear my Amma's payal which always finds its way towards you."

"K-Khushi"

"I wanted to love you", she pressed her lips over his and kissed him with urgency and promise of keeping these two souls united.

Up above the world so high, three stars twinkled, blessing their babies with all happiness.
