Not satisfied just being an actor, Gitanjali Tikkekar wants to be a director

Known for her negative character Apo*na in 'Kasauti…' (Star Plus), Geetanjali Tikkekar has indeed come a long way in proving her acting prowess and is seen in Balaji's new serial 'Karam Apnaa Apnaa' (Star Plus) as the snobbish nanand Maya. Her character Maya is not entirely grey, however she adds that Maya is a completely self centered woman. Geetanjali feels that the USP of this daily soap is that it has a glossy star cast and also highlights the fact that a woman being strong does not make them immune to pain.
She revealed that she is not satisfied with her acting career. "I am not satisfied with my career. This is not where I had wanted to be. I always wanted to be a technician and had done a course in Pune. So very soon, I would like to be a director."
She also claims that given this chance she would like to change the face of television. Prod her and she says, "Abroad they have seasons while shooting. They have this entire bank of episodes ready. Here, what we shoot today will be aired on television two days later. This is the reason that actors have to follow a very hectic schedule. I would like to change this aspect of television when I become the director."
Geetanjali claims that once make up is removed nobody recognizes her, "I have never been accosted by fans because nobody recognizes me when I don't have make-up on my face. Even when I go to the malls, I am never recognized because I tie up my hair into a bun and put on my specs."
Recently, Geetanjali walked into the sets with her make-up on when she was stopped by Star TV for a news byte. She told them that she would return after some time. "Later, I passed the TV crew devoid of any make-up and nobody seemed to have recognized me. I sat in my car and left without anyone realizing it," smiles Geetanjali.
