I was pretty apprehensive when I posted an article on Q-RR. Thought you would simply dismiss it as an old story.
Since you guys liked it, I am posting another one on Qazi that appeared in the same newspaper. It appeared in the last of Dec., 2005. I think twas a special issue on the ppl who made their mark in yr 2005.

"The drama that Qazi does is very real for him"
I first met Qazi when he was shortlisted as a Fame Gurukul finalist. It wasn't difficult to understand why the boy with the long hair and endearing attitude was always a favourite with the audience. Though definitely not the best singer of the lot, Qazi is a great performer and an even better entertainer. During the first Indian Idol, we just concentrated on our singing. This time round, the participants were very particular about their appearance, their presentation as well as their singing talent. Qazi's overall impact is so great that people are drawn to him instantly. Critics say Qazi hammed through the Gurukul show. I don't agree. In fact, he's a very nice person at heart. As for the drama he does, that's very real for him. His life is one huge act — he's very sentimental at heart and that comes across in his actions. He's a great performer. Just that with Qazi, no performance is an act. He's a natural.I believe that his Kashmiri origins have definitely made Qazi newsworthy. But I say that as a compliment. At a time when the Valley is in news for violence and terror, here came a boy who literally sang his way into people's hearts. What could be better?People have voted for Qazi from the heart. Every time his ratings would dip, Indians across the country would frantically SMS him back to top spot. Talent notwithstanding, there's an emotional equation he developed with people. They voted for him because they lived his life and felt his emotions. Qazi's victory was their victory. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. After the Fame Jodi was selected, I initially felt that people would forget me and concentrate more on the two winners, especially Qazi. Thankfully, that did not happen. I've performed with him and I've seen him grow over the last few months. I enjoy his company and I can say without doubt that he's a gem of a person with a huge heart.
Thanks.
