Indira to replace Vaishnavi as Meera in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si

Actress Vaishnavi who plays the role of Meera in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, has given a novel reason for leaving television shows - a holiday.

Sounds peculiar? Here's the story: the actress apparently gave a five month notice to the makers of the show, saying she was to leave for the US on a holiday. Although the notice was given in January, she was asked to shoot on the date of her departure.

We tried to contact the actress. Her mother said, "My daughter was going to the US and they had to shoot some scenes for Ek ladki Anjaani Si. She had given a notice to them five months prior to that, saying that she had to leave for the US. They even accepted it in January but later, asked her to shoot on her departure date." Since this was not feasible, a replacement for the actress was found. "Vaishnavi didn't challenge the decision and left the show," said her mother.

We inquired if there was more to the story, and if the actress had problems regarding payment as well. "There were problems initially, when the serial was produced by Prime Channel. Now that the show is being produced by Shreyas Creations, she has no problems anymore," said her mother. But, apart from the above, Vaishnavi also has had trouble with the aged character. To this her mother replied "People told her several times that she looked like Kanchi's elder sister but was still playing her mother on screen."

When contacted, the production unit confirmed that a replacement has been found.

"The character of Meera will now be played by actress Indira, who is as good looking as Vaishnavi and fits the role perfectly," says Misha Gautam, creative head and producer of the serial.

Indira is very excited about the role, "I am giving a different look to Meera's character, it is unlike what Vaishnavi has played hitherto. Moreover, with Rituraj's entry into the serial as Ananya's (Kanchi Kaul) father, Meera's character will dominate the serial for a long time. I think, the serial should be looking better now," said Indira.

I think this actress will suit the actor for Anus dad so much better. Will miss the original Meera though she was a fantastic actress and the role did suit her esp with Anu... ELAS writers 😡

U know what everyone hates it when an actor or actress gets replaced... but give it a few months time and everyone will adjust to the new change... I've actually seen Indira act in a star plus drama called Kahani Ghar Ghar kii and she is excellent everyone please just give her a chance
