What is Karva Chauth? Many people asked me so I am explaining
what little I know.
It is an Annual Festival celebrated by Hindu women in North India in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, parts of UP and Rajasthan. It is a one day festival were the married women folk fast for the,well-being, prosperity, longevity of the lives of their husbands, fasting from Sunrise to Moon Rise. They break the fast after seeing the moon.
Historically, during Karva chauth only wives fast but in this modern
world where husbands share all the house hold work, and wife
earns too, husbands are expected to fast as well. This festival is
celebrated with great enthusiasm by the ladies, which hold great
cultural and social significance.
The festival starts when the ladies of the house receive the Sargi,
from their mother-in-law.
' Sargi, which includes pheni (a sweet made by using milk and semolina), parantha, and various types of fruits and sweets
' Ten matthis (salty snack) with an equal number of puas (a sweet made of jaggery)
' Delicious halwa
The ladies eat it before sunrise and then fast for the whole day.
They break the fast after seeing the moon.
Their husband's will break the fast by giving them water.
My Favorite Karva Chauth Song

The episode was about Kushi and how she was trying to
keep her Karva Chauth vrath. Arnav was all out to tease
her well that she will find it very difficult.
He wants her to realize that it does not matter to him if
she can't keep her fast. Kushi being Kushi cannot stay
hungry. She has a feast the night before so that she
hopes she can keep fast. But nothing makes a difference to
her.
The poolside scene was magical and Arnav tell her that I
would not mind if you break the fast, I wont tell anyone.
Kushi gets upset and says I am concerned about you
and not doing it for fun. Then he asks her why is she
waiting. Kushi points to the moon.He points to the
pool. Kushi looks in and sees her reflection.
According to Arnav Kushi is his moon lit brightness that
brings life to him.
I kind of agree with Arnav, I mean no offence. I don't
believe in fasts. The reason being that the person who
keeps the be thinking abut food the whole day.
This is my own opinion and please do not bash my beloved
Friends for this opinion of mine.
After a long time it looked that the show was back on its
track. I hope it remains so and does not derail soon. But I
am the optimist and feel we will have a good track coming
up.

MY "OPEN" THOUGHTS
(In response to Open Letters)😉
You know what I am talking about😆
I liked the Maha Episode. Nothing to rant and rave about… I just liked it. There was comedy, a little bit of suspense (the obvious kind, but let us take it as a pointer to thing to come), a little bit of tradition and a dash of love with the right kind of chemistry.
Social message (implied, intentional or unintentional)
The episode begins Aarav's room. What's with the entire RM zoo in a sick child's bedroom? Make yourselves scarce people, the child needs air! And I am glad, Khushi had the brains. She tells everyone that they need to leave the mother and child alone. Of course she is right! Pragmatic and diplomatic of Khushi! After the unholy idiocies she had subjected us poor viewers to in the past month, I was pleasantly surprised.😃 Please keep her this way. Everyone is outside, when Aarav calls for his mum. Nice touch! However angry you are with her, however disappointed; the first hint of trouble and woe, you run to her; your own personal angel- "mother". Everyone makes to go to Aarav at the sound of his voice, but again a surprisingly sensitive and sensible Khushi stops them, and rightly so. My, my, my! Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada! You have grown, haven't you? Keep it up dearie, keep it up! Me loving it!👏
Mother and son are alone. A repentant Aarav seeks forgiveness from his Mom. He regrets putting her through the trouble and heartache she had to face; but is unrepentant of wanting to meet his Dad. Honest of him! He is cute. And I desperately want him to actually turn out to be Arnav's son indeed. 😛He is that cute. In fact, if he had made his entry in a chopper in the first episode, I would have fallen for him more readily than the original. And I loved the way Sheetal managed the situation, no false promises, no harsh words, no tears and tantrums, no emotional blackmail- "I too want you to meet your Dad, but it is not possible."
Her son responds with an adorably heartbreaking "ek baar bhi nahi?". The little guy can act! The longing, the yearning in those 4 words, how they shook me! No one, absolutely no one can make you understand the trauma and emptiness in the life of a child of a single parent. And the little boy was perfect in that scene. His words tear his mother apart. She doesn't give him hope, no scope for dreams, she gently reminds him, "main hoon na, tumhare saath? Tumhein aur kya chahiye?" I liked this scene very much. In the present society, rife with broken relationships, divorces, children from broken families and what not, these kind of scenes do remind us of some things we don't care enough to think about. Our every action has widespread ramifications. Our every decision affects lives not just our own. Actions of adults had affected lives here. Not just their own, but that of a little child as well. What was little Aarav's fault here? Why is he made to suffer for other's actions? This is not about morality, or righteousness, or fidelity or the lack of it- it is about an innocent child's right to his childhood. I am glad they thought of this scene; and I hope the sensitive ones among us catch on to what it implies.
Having said that, Madhura Naik, cannot act. Ah, well! She did her best. So let it be.😆
Rectifications
1. Sheetal comes down to the hall where the entire family is sitting and informs them that Aarav is fine. ASR walks up to her and apologises for lecturing her on how to bring up her own kid. 👏Good for him! He realized he was out of line and he owns up to his mistake. Which is more than that could be said for the rest of the RM wasis. (I seriously didn't like the way they lectured her on Friday. 😡What irked me most was the way Khushi, Payal and NK; and even Anjali - who didn't know one end of a baby from the other- giving gyaan to Sheetal about childcare. What the! Nani and Mami was bearable- at least they brought up children of their own; even then, they were strangers, they had no business interfering.) I guess the CVs realized their mistake and was rectifying it through ASR. If so, I am glad.
I was also glad to see another rectification-
2. Anjali.
Shyam's exit had been a let down. And Anjali post her marital disaster, was a bit hard to take. No angst, no heartbreak, no change, whatsoever. I was glad to see some reaction yesterday. I do wish they would develop this a bit better. The way Anjali was affected by the Karwa Chauth preparation was good to see. She is a normal woman, with normal reactions. Thank God! She is sad. She is missing being married. Though the scales have fallen from her eyes, she is sad for herself; what her life had come to; what it could have been; what she had wanted it to be. I loved it when she said, "kam se kam, humare pyar ko, humare vishwaas ko koi dhoka toh nahi hoga." 👏
The way her face falls when the mention of KC first occurs… she who would have been preparing for the fasting and the rituals with utmost care and conviction is left to flounder this year. What a contrast her life has become within a space of a few weeks. But it is heartening to see that she has emerged stronger with her beliefs intact. She is not bitter, nor has she given up on her beliefs. She is merely thankful that this year, at least no one is making a mockery of her love and her "shraddha."
3. Khushi's comedy. 😆Understated, and tasteful.😃 I am happy. Yes, you couldn't resist some OTT, but you had the good sense to limit it to her crazy dreams… thank God! We can take that.
Kya Khushi! Tum bhi na! even in your dreams, you couldn't come out of your wardrobe restrictions? 😆Couldn't you think of some more outlandish costumes? But at least you have no intention of sacrificing your love. I loved your " dusht aurat! Tujhe chodoongi nahi!"🤣
I liked the way she was gobbling her food. Also when ASR picks a crumb off her face, she is least embarrassed. She takes the crumb out of his hand and pops it into her mouth.
And that burp. She was hilarious.🤣
Also a hint of the bhukkad Barun was visible. Sitting in front of all that food, and letting Sanaya eat it and having to restrain himself must have been taxing. He actually gulps once or may be twice…😆
4. I also loved HP. 🤣Both the times. One, when he was gobbling down the pakores gifted by Sheetal. And two, when he was running around like a flustered chicken to bring food to his poor Khushi Bhabhi.
5. I also loved the tinge of humour with which KC was depicted. A refreshing change from normal, where "pativrata naris" keep fast without even the slightest of inconvenience to themselves.😆 Hunger, the most basic of human, nay animal instincts was depicted humorously and realistically by both Khushi and her unlikely partner- Manorama Mami. Well done!👏 I loved it that Khushi and Manorama again form an unlikely pact in the face of the challenge.
🤣
Sailing in the same boatwa!
The scene when Arnav comes to tempt them with dahi vada, where they triumph over the "evil" was very funny. They drew strength from each other in times of "grave peril."🤣
6. The RM ladies. They were all there. And together. They were preparing for a festival and it showed. The kitchen scene was good. And I absolutely loved Mami snoring away on the kitchen counter. 😆Also, Payal had something to do. She actually teased Khushi. I liked that. Please can we have more Khushi- Payal scenes? We miss them like hell.
7. ASR- he's slowly crawling back.
His honesty, his dislike of rituals, his refusal to believe in stuff that defies his logic, his enjoyment of his crazy wife's "sanak", his teasing; and his propensity to issue insane challenges to his equally insane wife. Again, a fervent prayer of thanks to the Almighty- Thank God! And he is flirting! 😳Boy, am I glad! That boy can flirt, and how! He is talented in that department. Give him some more encouragement. Talent like that needs to be explored thoroughly indeed!😆
8. ARHI. They are behaving like newly-weds now. Good. Liked the romance at the end, and the song and dance. Enough would have been written and said about those by now, so I am not going to bore you with a repeat. Their different view points were well brought out.
Khushi, who believes in traditions and rituals. Though she is a girl inordinately fond of food, she keeps the fast, because she believes that it will help her lead a happy and prosperous life with her Laad Governor. 😊And that if indeed her DM had already blessed her LG with a long life, her vrats will make her time with him doubly happy.
Arnav does not believe anything of the sort. Kitna jeena hai, kab marna hai- yeh vrat rakhne se thodi na decide hota hai! All he knows is that his Khushi kept a fast last Teej, and she fainted. His girl cannot bear hunger, she is fond of food. If she keeps a fast, she will be inconvenienced in more ways than one. So he sets out to cajole her, tease, torment and convince her to eat. At the same time, I am so glad the CVs didn't show ASR fasting too. He is practical to a fault, he won't do it. He is Diabetic, and why would he do something he doesn't believe in. instead he finds naughty humour in the situation and enjoys himself, in company with his equally naughty sister. I liked the dining table scene.👏
As for the pakore scene- no words!🤣
Story.
If handled carefully, this has potential. I request all fans to wait it out patiently. 😊Do not get carried away by your dislike of a character. I know, your love for everything ARHI is not letting you even imagine anything that puts a spanner in the works, but well, a show needs a story. And when the leads have a love story that is all mush and smooth sailing, well- admit it! It gets boring.😊 So what, if ASR and Sheetal had an affair? So what, if they had an illegitimate child? So what, if Sheetal is still hung up on ASR? The fact remains that it all happened 6 years ago, when ASR wasn't even aware of the existence of one Khushi Kumari Gupta. The fact remains that, defying all logic, ASR is head over heels in love with his clown of a wife in the present. Sit back and watch. And enjoy, and have the heart to accept. Life is not all about roses and cute cuddly toys. It is also about pain and regrets and subtle touches. It is also about tough decisions, unintentional mistakes and sacrifice. It is also about patience and penitence. So let us give our favourite characters free reign and see which route they take.😊
From yesterday's episode, I gathered that Sheetal, through her hidden Karwa Chauth is availing herself of all the rights due to the bahu of the house. 😕
Except for an official Sargi, she got Kheer from Nani, and also Nani applied the mehndi on her hands. Will Nani be instrumental in Sheetal gaining social acceptance. Will Nani's affection for Aarav, "the ghar ka chirag" affect her affection for her favourite bahu, Khushi?
Khushi, on the other hand is watching Sheetal carefully. She catches on to the fact that Sheetal is observing the KC secretly. Why, though? Why the need for secrecy? Can't she be open about it? But Khushi is not willing to be sacrificing. She loves her LG and has every intention of keeping him. Let us all pray to DM, that KKG finds a way to save her marriage as well as let Aarav have justice.😊
Picture abhi baaki hain mere doston…
You mean the world to me. I would do anything for you…
Bring me the moon…
That is all?
There she is!
Bright, beautiful and faultless!
This is the moon I prefer. I don't wait around for the celestial kind.
Paas hi rehna… ab door na jaa
The word "impossible" is in the dictionary of fools. It is not impossible to revive this show. If long term survival is not possible, concentrate on the short term. Concentrate on the past. In the past one and a half year journey, there are a lot of loops left open. Close them all, bring back Shyam, give Shashi Ji some justice. Resolve the awkwardness between Arnav and Garima. I am sure a lot of things could be done. I saw a bit of magic yesterday, keep it coming. You don't need outside help; you can very well find it within you….
It is evident that while someone is hunting for all the flashback scenes, they were inspired by the past magic... it was visible in the Mahaepisode. Thank you, Thank you very much indeed for the reminders...Nov, 30th ...Can we forget this day? When our favorite show "Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon ..." Ended abruptly. It was painful for all of us not to...
