Sarra's comments on the PH...
Hey I haven't seen today's episode so not sure if I will be writing on it but going by the rest of the week I doubt it otherwise you wud have more ranting but we shall c. Below is the comments I posted on forum 32 in response to their open letter, nope I did not give them story ideas they wud only ruin them anyway, that is if their post wasn't sincere, with this PH I have my doubts.
@4lionsfilms not sure u wil read this or like it but here goes, no offense meant and this is my opinion, you won't please everyone and that is a given. The issue is not the concept of the tracks u have devised, for me at any rate, it is the execution of the track and the dilution of character to fit the story instead of the other way.
There were certain things that contributed to the success of this serial, which was popular, especially internationally. I think it set benchmarks for its popularity as a Hindi serial overseas and bought together fans from a wide variety of backgrounds who connected due to IPPKND, a fete which I don't think has been attained before to this height, and difficult to replicate and it was because of its uniqueness.
This show let's say before March 2012 had everything from the unique storytelling, dialogues, the good direction, execution, lightening, editing, the flow in the story tellin, the smooth transition between tracks, the ability for the story and the characters to connect to the audience. The utilization of the cast and not just one or two peopl and Sarun were the cherry on top that made the scenes electric wit there chemistry. There were great scenes between ASR-Anj, Khushi-Payal, and some ASR-Akash scenes which just disappeared At one time the character were consistent they did not yo-yo to fit into the story, it was the way it shud b the story fit the characters.
However post March that started to change and it made a difference to the end product. There was mindless comedy, side characters were not used, there were no proper monologues to explain her antics, ASR not really in evidence much of the time and the list unfortunately goes on.
You may still get a scene or scenes which remind u of the old IPKKND, but that then marks the distinction wen it reverts back to wat has been shown, and I'm not talkin about the current track in itself, that had so much potential before there was to much comedy, I'm talkin about execution of the track. And that has been the issue with many of the tracks that have recently been shown, on paper they sound good or brilliant and should have had the audiences glued to there seats but they failed either due to timing of the track, the execution, the dialogues, at times what also looked like track changes in the middle of ongoing tracks.
There also used to be some logic and sense to wat was shown, let's take the cinema scene recently, where was the logic, y wud u take a picnic basket to the cinema knowing it could not be taken in, if comedy was required y like that. Or the scene at the office when she barges in to do a fashion show, that fits her character not thinking wen ASR is upset with her, she needs to fix it there and then and gets tunnel vision, but y then show that the clients loved those clothes. One of the things that was good about the show was that the characters weren't perfect and neither were the outcomes, ASR could have been utilised here instead.
ASR no longer exists, my affinity and connection was always with him from the first time I saw him in action action chachaji and that was it, i cud prob have defended him to kingdom come, he was at one point the best male character sketch i had ever seen on tv, and he no longer exists. I do not mean his initial reactions to Khushi or his constant anger, though I did so love them giving it to each other as good as they got. He has been reduced to a side character who is not required to do much and his character was one that was loved for his brains, his intelligence, his sharpness etc, an example there were no real scenes of him and Shayam going head to head and fans wud have loved that and were eagerly waitin for some such scenes instead they were given Khushi, not even quite a combo of the two.
Khushi is a character who no longer connects to a lot of the audience, the Khushi that was there during diwali, guesthouse, fadak parta track, etc is on longer there, she is sorely missed and has instead been replaced by the one that u see now. Before she still covered her pain with humour but there was a dignity, a strength to her character which has been missing of late.
Also natural progression like they r newly married however they don't act like it, where is the passion, the sweet moments that would come from it, they are barely in the same frame anymore and they act like brother and sister usually when they r.
Where is the ASR who couldn't see her in pain, even during the hate marriage he couldn't, it hurt him more, and yet take yesterday as an example not the only one mind you, but he did not go to her wen she fell, even before he knew she was acting, wat happened to that character. For over a year and a half ASR was shown as having changed once his parents died, he did not believe in love, and that was an integral part of his character, his past, it made him wat he was. However that essence was changed to fit in the Sheetal track, all of a sudden he and Sheetal broke up because they didn't fall in love, but he never believed in love, nore was he looking for it before Khushi came into his life. He was never portrayed as being carefree yet suddenly that he is shown as being wen at uni. It is these character inconsistencies that also don't help with a track.
U want to show her as being insecure, ok I get that but like this? where is the khushi whose character trusted, who believed in the good, she even bought shayam back knowing wat he was capable of, that he tried to kill ASR and yet she has lied, is deceiving, going behind ASRs back regardless of what he has said, her turmoil is not being conveyed effectively.
It all effects the overall package of the show and the connection the fans have built with the show and the characters. The show set itself some very high standards which unfortunately it can no longer live up to. There were many avenues you could have taken there story.
I think the post has become way to long and ill leave it with a question, I'll probably get tomatoes thrown at me but question below.
I loved this show, for a while it was like an obsession, and I understand that there r things which happen behind the scenes which v r not privy to as fans, however you have stated that the story, and love story has run its course so I have a genuine question as a fan. If u r unsure how to progress or how to execute tracks why not end the show and give it a dhamakadar ending which wud leave it in the history books as an absolute classic, an epic story which no sane person would have wanted to miss, though honestly speaking not sure u cud create that from where the show is now.
