Shiv on the other hand, was relieved she didn't shout at him. He had expected that and had already braced himself for a big storm. He smiled and wished himself a good night and fell asleep, this time he actually slept...
Next morning'.
Shiv woke up as glare of sunlight was directly hitting his face. He panicked and checked the time on his phone'.it was 9:07am!! He immediately stood up and that made him dizzy. He cursed himself for forgetting to set the alarm last night. Aaah last night'..he got daydreaming again and last night's events started replaying before his eyes'
"hey bhagwan! Itni der tak meri aankhe na khuli !! Aisa to kabhi nai hua! Me kaise itni der tak soti rahi!"
Anandi was already in super-panic-mode.
Shiv snapped back to reality, but just had to stand there, since she did all the talking. He even doubted whether she was aware of his presence.
"Kisine aavaz tak nai diya!!" she continued; she was already out of her bed and was heading towards the door'
Shiv was watching her with wonder'a big smile formed on his face'
"Arrey aaj to mandir bhi jaana tha!!" came her voice from the corridor, just outside their room; she was heading downstairs'
Shiv too followed her, forgetting completely that he was damn late for work. He was rather interested to know what his darling wife was going to do'
He stood outside their room, watching her speeding downstairs. For a moment he was amazed by her speed, but the very next moment he hoped that she won't trip and fall'but his worry was put to rest as she was already running past the sofas and was now speeding into the kitchen'
A whole 10 minutes later, Shiv decided that he must go down and check. He saw her going towards the kitchen 10 minutes ago..but she was nowhere to be seen now' Not just her, it seemed nobody was home' "All gone for work" he said to himself and then he panicked. He just remembered that he was late and again checked his phone'9:19am..He was about to rush inside to get ready, when he heard the familiar sound of anklets'
Anandi was now coming upstairs; her speed was slow as she was holding a tray with tea cups'.She saw him looking at her like a statue, when she reached the corridor. The way he was standing made it too easy to guess that he was frozen midway into the room. She quickly looked away. "Ye humesha aise ajeeb harqatain kyu karte he! " she said to herself'
Shiv broke his trance and looked inside the room instead as if he was seeing it for the first time'and finally decided to enter the room as he figured out that would be the only way Anandi could enter'he just hoped that he didn't look like a dumb before her'.
"Suniye' ye chai pee lijiye'.Aaj mere vajah se aapko itni der ho gayi.. Maaf kar do, mujhe pata hi nai chala ki itni der ho gayi! I'm sorry'." She said to his back.
He turned and said, "Ha der to ho gayi he.. but usme aapki galti nai he. Me kal raat ko alarm set karna bhul gaya tha'"
Anandi once again looked away' last night's events unfolded before her again for the thousandth time..it had kept her up all night and she couldn't remember when she had finally fallen asleep'.
"Laayiye, chai thanda ho jayega..vaise bhi der ho chuki he'ab chai nahi peene se koi pharak nai padega" Shiv said to distract her.
She slightly jerked when he spoke so suddenly'she quickly passed his cup and started sipping her own, when he spoke again'
"Dadiji kaha he?"
"Dadisa aur taisa mandir gaye he'.mujhe kal hi bataya tha aur me bhi jaane vaali thi unke saath. Par dekho na uthne me der kar diya aur vo dono chale gaye'.pata nai aise kaise chale gaye' kam se kam aavaz diya hota!"
"Ho sakta he ki kisine aavaz diya ho aur hume pata na chala ho'bohot gehri neend me tha me'nahi to without alarm hi isse pehle uth jaata.." he said, again checking the time- it was 9:30am now'
"Cahliye ab jaldi taiyyar ho jao'bohot der ho chuki he.. Me Bheem Singh ji se keh deti hu ke aapko vaha pohonchne me der lagegi.." Anandi said and took out her mobile from her purse.
Shiv was suddenly struck by an idea'. "Anandi ! Rehne dijiye'me soch raha hu ke itni der ho hi chuki he to aaj office nai jaunga" he said grinning. But Anandi glared at him and he forgot why he even thought of not going, in the first place.
"Bohot aalsi ho gaye he aap! Chaliye jaldi taiyyar ho jayiye'phir mujhe bhi school jaana he.." she said giving him her normal teacher-like look.. He already felt like he was her student. He finished his tea within seconds and was about to get ready, when he again caught himself mid-track. I'm a collector, people are scared of me and here my sweetheart is threatening me!! No way'something has to be done. Aaj nai jaunga matlab nai jaunga.. he thought to himself'
"Kya??" asked Anandi' Shiv had said the last part aloud and she was shocked.
"Nai mera matlab he, aaj kuch theek nai lag raha'headache bhi he'" he said whatever crossed his mind at the moment.
Anandi looked convinced but worried at the same time...
