Shweta says Mamma Mia

Kawaatra's mom matches steps with her daughter; gives dancing tips

Guess who is attending Shweta Kawaatra's dance rehearsals for Nach Baliye 2? The actress has been rehearsing for the last few days in the company of her mother. Talking about her mother's fascination for the dance show, Shweta says, "My mom is a huge fan of the show. She watched the entire series last year. Since I am a part of the second season, she's been attending my rehearsals as well. It's great fun to have her around."
Passion for dance
Doesn't she get nervous performing in front of her mother? "I must tell you this incident that happened just the other day. I was practising my moves, when all of a sudden, my mom got up and started telling me that was not the way it's done. She actually danced to the tune of the song and showed me how to do it. I knew I had to better my steps if my mom could do a better job than me," says Shweta.
In spite of being a professional roller skater, Shweta says her body has been experiencing pain like never before. "It's easy to get on the dance floor in a party and dance. But you have no idea what it's like to dance to choreographed steps. I have a back problem that has gotten worse. But I'm loving each and every moment of it, as I love dancing."
'Dad was shocked'
Along with her mom, her dad too got a chance to get a sneak peek at Shweta shaking her hips. "It was the funniest moment as my dad has never watched me dance. I was doing some major Bollywood jhatkas the day he came to see me perform," she says.
Shweta recalls how her dad raised his eyebrows after watching her. "I think he was in a state of shock. He has never seen me do such groovy moves. I didn't even have time to show embarrassment as each and every second of rehearsals is precious for me."
Shweta says she's banking more on intuition rather than strategy to get ahead in the competition. "I have huge respect for actors like Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai who are such fabulous dancers. When you watch them perform, they make it look so easy but trust me it is one of the most difficult things."
Time off
Taking time off from her Nach Baliye preparations, Shweta is also overseeing the interiors of her new pad. "I am quite excited about our new house. At the moment, we are getting the interiors ready."What plans does she have post Nach Baliye 2? "I will be going for a month-long vacation. There is no doubt in my mind that I want to do it. In fact, it's our wedding anniversary in December, so that's the perfect time for me and Manav go off somewhere together."
