"Bye Ms.Gupta?" she stared at him and then smiled?"Bye Mr.Raizada" and she skipped into the house wearing his coat.

Khushi's voice broke through his reverie?

"Oye?where are you lost??"

He smiled and shook his head?.Khushi put up her hand in front of him and looked at him expectantly?.he was confused?

"What??"

"Where is my present??"

Arnav winced?."Khushi I?um?I'm really sorry?I forgot?"

She looked at him with big eyes?"How can you forget today Arnav?.I?I?"

Arnav held her hand in between both his own?"Khushi?tonight when I come to watch the movie?I promise I'll get you your present?I'm really sorry?"

"Arnav this isn't about the present?it's about the feelings?it's no compultion to get me a present?please don't treat it like a formality and insult our friendship" she said snatching her hand away.

He began to say something but she cut him off. She raised her hand to silence him.

"Sto?."she began but stopped herself when she saw it?the platinum band that now rested on her ring finger?it's stones shimmering in the light?she realized he'd slipped it on her finger when he held her hand?.she was speechless?

"Arnav?is this what I'm thinking it is??"

He nodded "ya Khushi?"

"But Arnav?you don't believe in this?."

"So what?you believe in it and that's what is important?"

"Arnav?I can't believe that you'd do this for me?"

Khushi looked at the ring watch?(ya that's what it was!!!)?it was a rare collection which was studded with the pieces of an 18^th century luck diamond?.it was considered to be very lucky for the wearer?.Khushi had wanted one for ages but hadn't been able to get it?and she hadn't bothered talking to Arnav about it because she knew he didn't believe in lucky charms.

"Arnav this is really costly?I can't?"

"Khushi?for me you are priceless?any thing that I get you is cheap in comparison?"

Khushi's eyes misted?."How'd you get it?I tried for over a year?"

He smirked?"I'm Arnav for you Khushi?.but for the world I'm ASR?and ASR get's what he wants?"

Khushi grinned?"Thanks a lot Arnav?.you made my day?."

"Does that mean I can back out of the movie??" Arnav asked with his trademark smirk?

Khushi hit him on his shoulder?"No waY..!!"

she then looked at the time and gasped?.."Arnav look at the time?.I really should be leaving?that nasty boss of mine will have my hide today?" she said getting up?

They walked towards the parking lot laughing as they always did?.had anyone seen Arnav with Khushi, they wouldn't believe he was the same ASR who was a living terror for his employees?.he walked Khushi to her car?.Khushi sat in and rolled down her window?."Bye Shrek?". She grinned when she saw him roll his eyes?"Bye Candy?" he said as he walked towards his car.

As Khushi drove she remembered how the first time they'd met he'd called her Ms.Gupta?.she'd felt so awkward back then?it'd taken him two whole months to start calling her Khushi?.and last year on the same day they'd given each other these pet names?.

FLASHBACK

They'd just finished unwrapping their presents and were sipping on their coffee when Arnav spoke up?.

"Khushi?.I've decided to give you a pet name?"

"Really?.what??"she asked inquisitively?

"Candy?."

"What?.What kind of a name is candy??"

"Well, let me explain?.you're just like a candy?.you're very sweet?you make everyone happy?.everyone be it kids or elders love you?.you bring a smile on everyone's face?.do you want me to go on??"

Khushi smiled and shook her head?Arnav had never actually verbalized all this before and it meant a lot to her?she knew he wasn't a man of many words and she cherished the ones he spoke for her?.

"Well I've to give you a pet name too?.let me think?"

"Khushi?.It's a time consuming task?I?"?but as usual Khushi cut him off?.

"Got it?.!!"

"What?so fast?.it took me the whole bloody night?"

"Well that's probably because I'm more in tune with my emotions than you are?."

"Whatever?.so what is it?"

"Shrek?"

"You think I look like an ugly green monster??" he said flabbergasted?

Khushi rolled her eyes?"Ya?you're an ugly green ogre and that's why you're titled the 2^nd most eligible bachelor in India?.I forgot girls drooled over disgusting ogres?"

"Then why do you think I'm Shrek?."

"Well?like shrek?you pretend to be a dangerous, angry monster who loves to terrify people and loves to shout and scream?who makes people start to stutter?who raises the office on his head if his secretary gets him the wrong coffee?who terminates workers for being 5 minutes late?who.."

"Ya?Iget it Khushi?I'm an evil monster in office?thanks for the reminder?now can we get to the point?."

Khushi giggled?it was fun to rile Arnav up?"Well ya?but just like Shrek?your outward anger and evilness is a shield to protect the delicate and loving heart that beats inside you?it's a mask over the caring Arnav who would die for the ones he loves?.you are just like shrek Arnav?.but only a few people can see through your pretense?and only those people can see the golden heart inside?. "

It was then that for the first time in her life Khushi saw the great ASR shed a tear?..

Khushi's thoughts were rudely interrupted by the ringing of her phone?.she picked it up to see a text from Arnav?.

"OUR SONG PLAYIN ON 94.3?. ; -P"

KHSUHI smiled and tuned into 94.3 and heard the song?.

loved the update...sorry,i didnt realise u updated the chapters..just finished reading 1& 2..loved their friendship...how they met and hw their friendship started ..u have portrayed it very well...always love to read a refreshing story..im now going to read the next chap and will comment later...thanx for the pm ...
