I am always ashamed when CVs do not research medical issues and just bring whatever crap they want to show.
1) what kind of cancer does Prashant have? they do not specify that. Just saying that this is cancer is not enough. All this gives wrong ideas to general people. Does Prashant have stomach cancer or leukemia which is a blood cancer.

2) Bone marrow transplants are for leukemia and certain other blood cancers only

3) If he has leukemia and a bone marrow transplant is considered, for that we always want a 100% match. That is the best kind of transplant. Parents and kids are always only 50% match and can never be 100% match. They are never the first choice but only as a last resort when 100% match donors are not available. Because 50% match transplants are very hard with very high death artes.

4) generally we do prefer adults as donors because the amount of stem cells needed for an adult pt is more than sometimes can be collected from children.

I could write a book about medical errors that Tv/film industry show in the name of emotion and creativity which only gives wrong info to general people.

And i know what i am taking about because this is my profession and I do this on daily basis.

Blunders have become a part and parcel of Punar Vivah these days...I have lost the count
they still give me a good laugh...but this is a serious issue...People shouldn't be fooled
Its high time they consider these loopholes

yes, i feel bad that people then understand wrong things. It is not difficult for these Cvs to just consult with a physician regarding what they are showing. I think they should have a moral responsibility in showing correct things in medicine. Otherwise they should never show any medical issues in their story if they cannot address it properly

No stomach cancer and blood cancer are treated completely different. In the other serial, i do not watch that but i believe that maanvi has blood cancer and that is why bone marrow transplant was suggested. Also the possibility of a brother/sister being a 100% match is a lot more than parents or children of that patient.

That is why we always test siblings first since we know that parents and children will only be 50% match.

Stomach cancer is never treated with transplant. only with a combination of surgery/radiation/chemo

I think they probably just google around to know and choose terms...they chose cancer because it has no cure till date...people will easily find it relatable...yes it was relatable too..for a common viewer like me
They couldn't bother to specify the type...and their job was easily done when they said for yet another time..his disease is in its advanced stage, we can do less...etc
I really have nothing more to say...I really hate these loose ends but can't stop loving the show at the end of the day

i still have to hear the specific type of cancer Prashant has because it's only the articles that said he has stomach cancer..
if the doctors are referring for bone marrow for the hematopoietic stem cells then they have an alternate in amniotic fluids or umbilical cords i think 😉

umbilical cord be used but again the amount of stem cells from one cord blood is usually not sufficient and many times more than one cord blood is needed. Infact cord blood transplant is still in incipient phases because of these reasons. Even in US where transplants are done a lot, we seldom do cord blood transplants. at this time it is just a lot of research and talks than used in practice
