MUSIC REVIEW OF LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI By Satyajit - Eye TV India Bureau Juke Box
The squeaky "Donald Duck" voices "Munnabhai" humorously with signature whistling sound in the fast paced and entertaining soundtrack "Lage Raho Munnabhai (remix)". Shaan's youthful and sassy voice oozes out this remix version with Jatin Sharma remixing the title track in contemporary club mix style. It is speculated that this enjoyable number will be used as the promotional tool showing different aspects of the film. SAMJHO HO HI GAYA: After title track, its prankster "tapori" conversation between "Munnabhai" and "Circuit" amalgamates in lovable soundtrack "Samjho Ho Hi Gaya". Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi along with Vinod Rathod sing this funky number that narrates the experiences of Munnabhai's romantic date. Now it may sound strange when drunkard Munnabhai talks about "Kissing car", spunky encounter with tiger in circus and sums up "Samjho Ho Hi Gaya" (everything is done in love). It's a comical presentation of the funny events that are encapsulated in frolicking soundtrack with spicy lyrics and peppy music. AANE CHAR AANE: It's whimsical, comical but practical! "Aane Char Aane" talks about saving and cherishing every precious moment of life with loads of enthusiasm. Karunya, the runner up of Indian Idol 2, sings his heart out in making the vivid colors of this song come true. After the average success of previous Indian Idol contestants this comes as fresh whiff of air where the deserving talent meets with deserving opportunity. The freshness in the voice makes striking presence in spirited and energetic "antaras" of the song. Swanand Kirkire along with the producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra pens quizzical lines "Aane Char Aane Sun Le Waste Na Kar Yaar…..Baare Aane Zindagi Waste Hui" for this highly animated soundtrack. It will be eye-feasting for the viewing audiences to view this song on big screen as it already gives positive vibes on audio. Calypso based music forms the backdrop of "Aane Char Aane (remix)" and brings smiles on faces. Unlike the regular club mix this Jatin Sharma's remixed number has African calypso musical zing that adds flavors to the fastidious voice of Karunya and make mood merry. PAL PAL HAR PAL: The rhythmic tune of Cliff Richards's evergreen classic "Theme for a dream" with classical jazz music forms the base tune for the lovable duet "Pal Pal Har Pal". In an album that is flooded with situational tracks this stands out as the only melodious number with soft "n" soothing effect. Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal come out with another lovable track after emoting out romanticism in Shantanu Moitra's composed "Piyu Bole". The harmonious piano tunes, recurring electric guitar strums give it a perfect candle light dinner ambience. Swanand Kirkire gets the only opportunity to show his poetic affluence with this number in this album and forms perfect chemistry with Shantanu Moitra's music and Sonu-Shreya's vocal combo. BANDE MEIN THA DUM: Father of Indian Nation Mahatma Gandhi's multi-dimensional facade is mushroomed and blossomed with the strong blend of patriotism and nationalism in the thought-provoking soundtrack -- "Bande Mein Tha Dum". The lyrics, vocals and music can't be better than this in depicting satirical work of all-time favorite nationalist song "Aao Bachchon Tumhe Dikhaye Jhanki Hindustan Ki…" ('Jagriti (old)') molded with present day scenario. Sonu Nigam along with Shreya Ghoshal and Pranab Biswas, emanates the silhouetted persona and magnetism of "Bapu" (Mahatma Gandhi) with musical flair. The song is a prayer to Bapu to reform and preach to the disloyal, cheats and dishonest with his teachings. "Bande Mein Tha Dum" is unquestionably brilliant soundtrack that epitomizes creative innovation and outlook of the filmmaker and lyricist in graphing declining morality with the principles of Mahatma Gandhi. Pranab Biswas's echoing vocals come in the traditional "Rabindra Sangeet" style and form the effective prelude and signature tune to this thought-provoking number. The socially relevant "antaras" - "Bhai Bhai ka Dushman hai bana….", "O Jhooth ka badhta jaye raj oh bapu …" and "Pai pai mein Insan Hai Bika re…." amplify the declining morality, honesty, brotherhood of present society with a request to "Bapu" to reform them. The chorus chanting of "Vande Mataram", free flowing flute rendition with mellifluous flow of Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, give it strong patriotic impact. Undoubtedly, it will get the best work from the musical team if it gets the expertise of fine choreography. Then, it might prove to be groundbreaking success. OUTSTANDIG!!! Ashwin Srinivasan's melodious flute rendition of "Bande Mein Tha Dum" along with contemporary set of harmonious Indian musical instrumental work, sparkles off the passion and zest of patriotism in the soundtrack "Bande Mein Tha Dum (instrumental)". A fine piece of instrumental works that gists the thematically rendered message with recurring chorus rendition of "Bande Mein Tha Dum…Vande Matram" deserves adulation and success. Music director Shantanu Moitra and lyricist Swanand Kirkire made swashbuckling start with 'Parineeta' and returns with less effective but impressive album 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'. Like 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S' this album is loaded with situational numbers with the exception of romantic number "Pal Pal Har Pal" and patriotic soundtrack "Bande Mein Tha Dum". If the film meets its predicted success then the audio sales will positively get a big boom. So, let's hope for the success of this impressive musical team. |
