The story of Rabba Ishq Na Hove is the story of love. Love in it's various colours and shades. Love, which can enrich a life and love, which can destroy. The madness of love and also it's quiet presence. The strength of love and it's fragility. It comes accompanied by jealousy, by insecurity, by possessiveness and revenge.
The Amphora family. A happy family. The head of the family is Bhushan His wife is Mohani. They have two sons Amman and Prem. There is also,Tamana. Tamana who was the daughter of Bhutan's best friend. After the tragic death of Tamana's parents, Bhushan had given her refuge. He had promised his friend that he would take care of her. Tamana had come into the house when she was twelve. Brought up like a daughter. There is a silent understanding in the family that one day Amman will marry Tamana. At least Tamana herself lives with that dream. The Amphora family have only one sorrow. Their daughter Anjali is only a photograph in the house. She was only three years old when she disappeared. No one had ever found her. There had been no dead body, no kidnappers note. Despite the Amphora family's best efforts Anjali never been found.Even after twenty years, the police file is still open. Even today they live in the hope one day the doorbell will ring, and Anjali will come back. How will they recognize her? Will they even know if she passes them on the street?
Amman is a decent, hard working guy who has not yet met the woman of his dreams. Prem on the other hand is a flirt. He is good looking and charming and thinks he is God's gift to women. He believes that no woman can ever resist his charm.
The serial opens with the young and beautiful Pia who is being followed by Prem. Everywhere she goes. He is there. He is waiting outside her door, at the bus stop, outside her office. Even at night if she looks out through her window she sees him there. Standing under a lamppost looking up at her window. One day Pea gets irritated at this continued pursuit and confronts him. Who is he? What does he want? Prem tells her that he is madly in love with her and follows her around just to have a glimpse of his beloved. Pia is very firm with him. She has no feelings for him. She does not even know him. And above all she is betrothed to another man and her engagement is next week. He has to understand and leave her alone.
But Prem does not leave her alone. He starts traveling in the same bus as her, leaving his posh car to follow behind. In pouring rain he still stands outside her window. He even tries to get a job in her office. Pia does not respond. On her engagement day along with the boy and his family, Prem too arrives, carrying with him the traditional engagement gifts. In front of the whole crowd he declares his love for her. The family is shocked. Most so Pia. The would be groom confronts her. Who is this man? Pia claims she does not know him. But the damage is done. The groom suggests that since a man has seen fit to walk in on her engagement they should postpone it and rethink the whole affair. Pia is totally taken shattered. How can the man she is about to marry not believe her?
The next day, Prem visits Pia again. He begs her to forgive him and give him another chance. To meet him just once. In a party he has organized just for her. After all his only fault is that he loves her too much. He cannot live without her. Pia listens to him coldly and does not reply. The next day at the party everyone waits for Pia. Prem is confident she will come. Pia arrives. Walks up to Prem. And in front of all his guests gives him a slap. She wants him to feel the shame and humiliation he had put her through in front of her family and guests. Pia walks out.
Prem however does not give up his pursuit. He tries every possible way to convince Pia that his love is real. At last Pia gives in. Slowly she starts falling under his spell. She begins to believe him. He is there when she goes to bed. He is there when she awakes. His persistence pays off. One day Pia admits that she may be falling in love with him. And at that moment Prem brings her world crashing down. As he laughs in victory and makes the thumbs up sign his friends appear from all around. "I told you I have it! The Prem factor! It always works!" There are high fives all around as Pia realizes that she was a mere pawn in a betting game. Prem had only to prove a point. She runs away embarrassed and humiliated.
Somehow, the victory does not taste very sweet to Prem. Girls have always come and gone in his life. He loves them, enjoys them and forgets them. Yet, why can't he get Payout of his mind? Why, when he is with another girl does her face appear? Why does he keep missing her? Suddenly the answer comes to him. Can he be in love? Is this what love feels like? This misery? This ache? This longing? What a fool he has been! How could he let Pia no? His life has lost meaning without her. He has to get her back. The hour is late. Not an hour to call upon a young girl living alone. Yet nothing matters to him. Prem reaches Pia's house. Bangs wildly at the door. No one answers. A neighbour kindly informs him that Pia has moved. She has left town. Prem's world falls apart. He tries desperately to find her.
Six months later. Pia has moved to Nasik and is staying with her mother and younger sister, Megha in their Nasik home. One day she meets Amman, whom she remembers from an earlier encounter. They meet as friends and Amman begins to come home. He soon becomes a great favourite with Pia's mother and sister. But Pia is quiet and aloof, still not recovered from the trauma, Prem had put her through. Amman makes it his mission to make her smile. His efforts succeed and soon Pia begins to appreciate Amman. Friendship turns into love and Amman proposes to Pia.
The family rejoice at the news that Amman wants to marry. But somehow every time Prem is supposed to meet Pea, something goes wrong. But how can Amman get married if Perm his brother does not meet this girl? In a very special way Amman organizes the meeting in a restaurant. At last Pia no Prem come face to face. Prem realizes that the woman he had shamed and humiliated and finally fallen in love with the women is his own brother is about to marry!
Pia returns home shaken and upset. She confides to her mother. What should she do now? Should she tell Aman that she had once known his brother? Her mother strongly advises her against it. After all, it was in the past. And there was no real relationship. If Aman ever knew how Prem had treated her the relationship between the brothers would be ruined forever. And she would be the cause. No. She should keep quiet. All that mattered was the fact that she and Aman genuinely love each other. Pia agrees with her mother.
The next day Prem visits Pia and tries to plead with her. She should be with him. He is the man who can give his life for her. He had made a mistake. To please forgive him. Pia laughs at him and turns him away.
Prem too realizes that there is nothing he can really do to break up the marriage. If he ever reveals to Aman that he loved Pia, she would tell him what he actually did. On the other hand how can he bear to see her with another man? His own brother! Living in the house day after day. It would be intolerable. How dare Piachoose his brother over him? She will not get away with it. He promises to make her life a living hell. If he has been deprived, she too would never find happiness.
Prem finds an ally in Tamanna. Tamanna too has had her dreams of marrying Aman, broken. She feels cheated and humiliated. She starts helping Prem in creating trouble between husband and wife.
On the very wedding night itself, Tamanna confides in Aman that Pia, his wife once had an affair with Prem. Aman is shocked and hurt that Pia did not tell him about it, but does not reveal anything to Pia. Pia starts wondering why Aman's behaviour has changed. Aman starts to doubt his wife. And Prem and Tamanna make sure to create such doubts. Till one day Pia confronts Aman. He tells her that she is having an affair with Prem. Pia tells him the truth. Also that Prem has been doing it all to take revenge. Prem confronted with the truth begs forgiveness.
In reality he realizes that they have to now be more clever. But he will not rest till he destroys Pia's life.
Meanwhile in the Malhotra family something stupendous has happened. Anjali has been found! By none other than their manager's son, Ajeet. The family is overjoyed.
Anjali however is not the real girl who had gone missing. She is a mere plant by Ajeet who through his father comes to know all the details. Anjali is his girlfriend.
In truth Anjali had been taken by Dolly, a close family friend. Unable to have children of her own, she becomes immensely fond of the little girl and kidnaps her. She immediately moves to the States and settles down. All the Malhotras know is that Dolly has adopted a little girl. But chance brings them back to India and later on in the story the Malhotras meet Dolly again. And the real Anjali who is now known as Pari, Dolly's daughter.
Ajeet brings Anjali to the house with only one intention. Money. Inheritance. But soon Prem and Aman start to become thorns in a lucrative plan. Why divide into three when Anjali alone can inherit everything? They plan to remove the brothers. The attempt on Prem fails and he is left blinded.
A blind Prem undergoes a major change in character. He starts to realize the folly of his ways. He is now genuinely repentant. Pia almost begins to believe him again.
Meanwhile the attack on Aman is successful and he dies. Before dying he gives Prem his eyes. Aman dies in a car accident and Pia who had begun to trust Prem before begins to suspect him again. She feels sure that Prem is behind her husband's death. Yet every time she looks into his eyes, she sees Aman looking at her. A strange duality of hate and attraction begins its' play.
Will Dolly reveal to the family that she has the real Anjali? That the girl posing as Anjali is a fake and dangerous?
Will Pia realize that Prem truly loves her? Will she ever be able to forgive him? And to forget her husband and find new love?
