Potter filmmakers ditch Quidditch
01/09/2006 12:00:00 AM

(KP International) Fans are crying foul since hearing filmmakers have excluded Harry Potter's favourite sport, Quidditch, from the next film in the famed series.

"If we included everything the film would be seven hours long," a Warner Brothers source told the UK's Sun.

It's true. The fifth movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is based on JK Rowling's 800 page novel. Still, fans are upset they won't get the chance to see Harry's best mate, Ron Weasley, take to the pitch for the first time as he did in the book.

"It would be wonderful to include every single page of the book. But as with previous Harry Potter films, elements have had to be omitted," a film spokesperson explained.

Fans will have lots of time to stew over the changes since the movie isn't due to hit theatres until next summer.
