Kiran Karmarkar, who is currently seen as Tej Singh Bundela in Colors' Uttaran (FilmFarm Productions) was initially finalised to play Madhubala's father Balraj Chaudhary but after he refused to do the same, the role was later taken up by Raj Zutshi in Madhubala-Ek Ishk Ek Junoon.
It is said that Kiran was initially approached by Prashant Bhatt, the Programming Head of Colors to play Madhubala's father. However, since he was busy with Life OK's Zindagi Kahe… Smile Please, he couldn't take up the show. But since the project went off-air later, Prashant offered Kiran the role of Tej Singh Bundela inUttaran that he took up as he found the character very interesting.
