Correct- Kartikeya is their Dauhitra - (daughter's son).

Actually, an episode or so before that, they did show Dadhichi very much alive.

Other blooper they showed in Thursday's episode - Kartikeya getting his peacock. I know that in the S Indian version, he gets it after Surapadman transforms into a peacock & the cock banner, but here, he has it in advance Is that how that happened in the Skanda Purana or the Shiva Purana?

Also, the promo - did Kartikeya really kill Tarakasura by doing a run up on Mahadev's arm and then jumping on him? I thought that Mahadev was nowhere in battle during that battle - it was Kartikeya leading the devas & ganas.

They didn't show the original event correctly. Since Dadhichi has immortality's boon, so even if his body is wasted, he can move on to another body or regenerate. This is the reason Indra can have his vajra yet dadhichi is alive :) This part is present in the Mahabharat story.

Dadhichi was jeevan-mukta, a soul who was free from bondages of re-births. Such souls gets merged with the Divine consciousness, are not born again.
He had a boon of his bones will become as hard as Iron, not of immortality. So after giving his body to make weapons for Devas, he was not born again. Otherwise there would have been a story for his re-birth.
