WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER
An episode that had me rejoicing in the first half with the resurrection of Anjali Singh Raizada, and that had me laughing thoroughly in the second half with the comeback of the nautanki Khushi and the gamely Raizada family members.
I LOVED the episode... a stronger Anjali, and my dear fun crazy dramatic jhalli Khushi is back!!! Plus, NK is still around!!
In each family there are arguments, ego battles, misunderstandings, strifes, and struggles - but in most cases, families still stay together, live with one another - not out of duty, or bondage, but out of love.
The rebirth of Anjali Singh Raizada understands this fundamental truth when she finds her family backing her at every step, staying by her side even when she disbelieved them, protecting her even as she opened herself to danger, and loving her even as she snubbed their advices and help.
She recognizes the truth that they saved her from an evil that could have ruined her life totally. Her brother Arnav maintained his brotherly vow of protecting her, of keeping her safe. They were never against her, they were only looking to secure her happiness before it could be too late.
I'm glad to see that Anjali has grown stronger from this devastating life experience, and that she did not crumble into a self-piteous woman who blamed her fate for it.
True, she has never had the best, or happiest of bonds in life. Happiness always seems to touch her and then disappear into the mists of turbulent circumstances.
Her parents death, her broken first marriage, the first accusation against her husband, the loss of her child, and now the true villainous face of Shyam - all seemed to have snatched happiness away from her just at the brink of new dawns, dreams, and hopes.
She may have lost her mother, her father, her child and her husband... but her dearest brother still stands resolutely with her, throughout the tides of time. Her Chotte has never left her side for a moment, always guarding, always overlooking, always there for her whenever she needs him.
He does not smother her this time with over-concern, he lets her burn away her husbands belongings knowing that this will help heal her broken spirit. Both Anjali and Arnav have grown during this debacle with Shyam. Arnav learnt that some truths are necessary to be unveiled to his sister, protecting her always may not work for her best in the end; while Anjali learnt to face reality, to see things for what they truly are, and to survive the odds with all grit, strength, and courage.
She cremated the last remains of her husband's possessions, she watched them burn away, the fire of hatred and disgust raging in her eyes. She spoke of a promise of looking forward to good times, of the grey dark shadows that were extinguished just like the reminders of her husband - as they lay in a pile of dark grey ashes - the funeral pyre of Shyam had consumed every bit of him in the room that was once the abode of Mr. and Mrs. Shyam Manohar Jha - the room that is now inhabited by Anjali Singh Raizada.
She may be hurting inside, pained to an extreme extent, but those feelings do not prejudice her decision. Her mind refuses to give space for a man who does not deserve it, her mind declines thoughts and memories of him, and shuns every reminder of his... but what about her heart? Has it clamped down? Has it shut itself to love like how her brother first was? Will Anjali ever love again? Trust again? And believe in another man again? Remains to be seen...
For now, Anjali has finally stood up by herself without depending on the others. She tackled the situation without much interference from anyone else. She herself made the decision this time. Anjali passed the verdict this time. This is a renewed start for her... a new beginning... a new dawn to her life!
The lines below are dedicated to the strong woman, who despite the years of pampering, attention, molly-coddling, and over-protectiveness finally brushed them all aside to emerge gloriously as the woman she has always been deep inside - strong, capable, brave, positive, and clear. (It would be great if Anjali did sing the lyrics of the song below):
You think you got the best of me
Think you've had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
...
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
...
You know in the end the day you left was just my beginning
In the end...
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Song: What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger
Anjali the mother: The biggest, most torturous blow to Anjali was that of her child facing the brunt of evil. The bond with her child was so integral and precious - as a sister and wife, she let go innumerable proofs against her husband, but as a mother, as a mother she proclaimed the judgement for Shyam, for her unborn child, she defended it's death, for her motherly bond with her Raajkumari, she severed the bonds of marriage to protect her child's innocence.
Anjali-Khushi conversation: I'm certain by now most of you know that I love the way these two bond. Another improvement on Anjali's character - she knocks on the door and asks Khushi if she can enter their room! (I hope this stays the same now on... no more barging into Arnav-Khushi's privacy). Two ladies, betrayed by the same man, and loved by another but same man. They share so much in common. Their bond had been established right from the time they met one another. Each one does something for the other. Each one sees to the other's happiness. Khushi apologizes once more to Anjali, and Anjali is only grateful that Khushi spared her from more harm, that she did the right thing for her. Anjali in turn apologizes for having turned a deaf ear to Khushi's truth about Shyam previously, the ever empathetic Khushi feels that she might have done the same thing had she been in Anjali's place. These two really have a great deal of love, respect, and care for one another. It is very endearing to watch. Khushi, forever the sunshine girl, emits rays of hope for Anjali... she offers a bright, new, fresh wave of optimism to Anjali - proving to Anjali that, the true pure bonds of hearts are far precious than the bonds of blood relations.
Arnav-Anjali-Khushi: Anjali and Khushi - the two most important women in Arnav's life - share a deep intrinsic bond that transcends into their warm equation with one another. Perfectly at peace, ease, and close to one another - it brings a sense of contentment to his haggard face. A warm smile caresses his face as he looks on with pride and gladness of the two most important women of his life sitting side by side together. He joins him - the three have always been part of a triangle, of a balance that keeps shifting their equations and life events. However this time, they are all on the same level, on the same page - for once.
Old Khushi back: Was glad to see the chirpy, bubbly, masti-bhari, mad, crazy, dramatic Khushi back in full form!! Loved all her antics, chatter, and subtle blackmail! 😆
The Dirty... I mean Derby Gutter-talk 😛 : Couldn't help giggling uncontrollably at Arnav's horse-'riding' idea! Arnav's "Hume karni nahi hai, hume dekhni hai" line had me collapsing in fits of laughter... Khushi's questions, and comments only made it worse - what with handcuffing the legs of the horse and all! 🤣
Husband-Wife Drama: Aye hayye, how cute were they!! Thees is what I love to see more than Rabba Ve's... don't know why... But it's just too adorable for words the way they go on. Poor Arnav, drowning in his wife's charms, amused by her liveliness, and wanting to spend ahem.. quality time with her, agrees to her every wish! 😃
Khushi's gesture: The movie plan was to draw out Anjali, to keep her happy, to have the family around her, to bring a semblance of normality back into theirs and Anjali's lives. The family have gone through quite a lot ever since the kidnapping happened. Khushi has always used this method of doing things that make one happy in order to move on from the setbacks of life - she does the same for Anjali too now! Lovely gesture by Khushi to help Anjali move on slowly and gradually. ⭐️
The Crazy Family: Totally loved all of them contributing to Khushi's plan. Their funny, comic, weird, mad, and crazy comments lightened the heavy atmosphere that has been hanging around them all this time. Their ready participation with Khushi showed a warm side to the Raizadas - there is more heart among them, the tragedies of the past have brought them closer together than never before. Each of them do their part to bring around happiness in the family once again!
Arnav's annoyance: Oh how I missed it all these months!! While Arnav might have had images of hand-holding in the dark theatre, of arms around the shoulder, and sweet-nothing whisperings... Khushi only thought of the happiness and comfort of his Di. Arnav should know by now - it is always "other's first" motto for Khushi. Since Arnav and she are one (by marriage/and union of souls), everyone else will come first, while they will be last! Let's see how this affects their relationship!
Please refrain from taking the below too seriously - these are just my attempts and may not hold true. You are free to decode them by yourself! 😊
Pata kaise chalega ki hero kaun hai aur heroine?: No clue what this meant!
Villain sabse zaroori hota hai: Comeback of Shyamu? Or entry of a new villain?
Police, hathkadi (handcuffs) kaha bandhenge?: Ominous sound to this one. Will Shyam slip out? Or will the proofs against him be too weak for the police to handcuff him and keep him in jail?
Na koi rona dhona, na koi drama... action toh hota hai: Upcoming action... though I'm not sure if it's romantic action 😉 😉, or pure action action (between Arnav and Shyam), or a bit of both!
Mara Dilli, gira Jalandhar: Now I seriously wish that DB was here for this point! I come up with vague stuff that doesn't seem to fit anywhere. All I got from this was, that there will be one more attack by Shyam on either Khushi, Arnav or the Raizadas (they live in 'Dilli'). However, seems like always, Shyam will sink in his own plan - it will obviously be foiled by Arnav. The Jalandhar part had me going - it gave me the clue of Arnav (since his name means 'Ocean' = body of water = 'jal'). But I'm wondering if there's another angle to it altogether! 🤓
At first I thought that Khushi had reached his office, and had unknowingly gone into his conference room where a meeting/presentation was going on. Unaware about it, she chatters away to Arnav about her plan to show a Hollywood type movie for him while not listening to Arnav's constant attempts at trying to tell her something.
But later on, I watched the precap again, and found that her lines "Accha hua aap aa gaye" and "Aap hi ko phone kar rahi thi" a bit vague... and so gave up predicting and assuming anything. I'm going to just sit back and enjoy the scene unfold! 😳
Sanaya Irani: Loved your performance every second of the way today. You are great at comedy, and it was lovely to see the old spark of Khushi back! Must say, your kicks and punches were not only powerful, but also amusing (in a good way)! 👏
Barun Sobti: Your reactions in the Derby-Movie debate scene was wonderful to watch. Expressions of amusement were perfectly done. The look of incredulity, and giving in in to the wife's wishes were too good! ⭐️
Daljeet Bhanot: Liking you as the more strong Anjali! Hope your character develops more as the days go by. 👍🏼
Karan Goddwani, Utkarsha Naik, Akshay Dogra, Deepali Pansare and Jayashree T: Absolutely rocking performance by one and all! Totally loved the whole drama and theatrics! You'll made me fall more in love with the Raizada family today! 😳
While I normally write good notes to you, today I just had one slight grievance - that of ASR being the first to walk out from RM hall for the movie, and everyone else too just moving on leaving Anjali by herself. True, we know that Anjali is a more able person now, but this scene lacked a bit of sensitivity toward Anjali. However, you seemed to have rectified that part at the security guard scene where Aakash stood beside Anjali throughout, and guided her into the hall. I'm glad you did that over there.
Your earlier episodes tracked each characters progress very smoothly, would love it if this was applied to Anjali, Arnav and Khushi's character now too, especially Anjali's.
Also, as a request, would love it if you brought in a track for Aakash-Payal!
